Benefits difference between ILR and British Citizenship

Post by decentguy_uk » Tue Feb 24, 2009 12:12 pm

Hi

What is the benefit of having british citizenship when you already have an ILR

I can understand that with British nationality, you can get benefits if you are unemployed or have a kid

Any other difference/benefits that you are aware?

Having a random thought of leaving UK after getting my ILR and not applying for naturalization year after.

You can always lose ILR under certain circs, BC is very difficult to remove.

With SAS shooting the barrels of fuel on the ground, giving you a cinimatic, explosive get away before comming back to Kent for champagne and Strawberries. It's all in the "Introduction to UK citezenship" pack

This is one hell of a country 8)

Guys don't be fooled into thinking you will get assistance from the HO if you come unstuck in a dodgy country.

I have a Emglish friend, who spent six week's in a jail in Dubai after trying to leave, without knowing he had a unpaid speeding fine.
The HO could offer no assistance in his case and his wife had to fly from the UK to Dubai to paid the fine and have him released.
No thank's to the HO and he was born and breed in the UK!!

But then of course you can work anywhere within the EU on your British passport.

With the HO changing the rules every other day, it's 'safer' to get your British citizenship soonest. Who knows what new roadblocks they may come up with on the road to Pom-dom.

That is, if it matters to you.
