You might not have realised it but you touch upon a number of issues.

Firstly, student visa ... how long is the person allowed to work? The rule is that the student is allowed to work for up to 20 hours per week during term-time but an unlimited number of hours outside of term-time.

Also, if their course involves Work Placement then the 20 hour limit is lifted even during term-time as long as the work being done is because of the Work Placement.

From what you post it is not clear whether any of the above helps your fiancé. But if he has been working excessive hours under those rules then he really should stop that immediately.

Second issue ..... Certificate of Approval ("CoA")... to marry! Has he applied for that? If not why delay given that you talk about marriage during the autumn.

Which begs the question .... if he has not already got his CoA ... now long left on his student visa? If less than three months then effectively it is now impossible to get that needed CoA. Without a CoA (and in the absence of a fiancé visa, a marriage visitor visa or ILR) it is impossible for a non-EEA person to give Notice of Intention to Marry at a Register Office.
