What happens after November 13?

Post by Monyk » Thu Sep 08, 2005 8:21 pm

Hi! I have noticed in the uk embassy website in Mexico that after the 13 of November there is going to be necessary to apply for an entry clearance if you are going to stay in the UK for more than 6 months. I want to know if this will replace the application that you do as a Spouse?

Because in the site says "Anyone intending to stay longer than 6 months".

I rang the embassy but as always they seem to not care.

Not very helpful at all.

If anyone knows could you please let me know?

Thank you. :D

No, it will make no difference to anyone needing to apply for a spouse visa ... they would still apply for that.

I have just looked at the British Embassy website for Mexico City. It is clear that Mexicans are not being singled out here. It affects all of :-

List of nationalities affected:

Andorra
Antigua and Barbuda
Argentina
Bahamas
Barbados
Belize
Bermuda
Bolivia
Botswana
Brazil
Brunei
Cayman Islands
Chile
Costa Rica
Dominican Republic
East Timor
El Salvador
Faroe Islands
Greenland
Grenada
Guatemala
Honduras
Israel
Kiribati
Lesotho
Macau
Malawi
Maldives
Marshall Islands
Mauritius
Mexico
Micronesia
Monaco
Namibia
Nauru
Nicaragua
Palau
Panama
Papua New Guinea
Paraguay
Samoa
San Marino
Seychelles
Solomon Islands
St Kitts and Nevis
St Lucia
St Vincent & Grenadines
Swaziland
Taiwan
Tonga
Trinidad and Tobago
Tuvalu
Uruguay
Vanuatu
Vatican City
Venezuela

That is, as from 13th November, all so-called non-visa nationals will need a visa to enter the UK if their period of stay is going to exceed six months. At present that requirement is only for certain nationals, such as USA etc, but it is now being extended to all non-visa nationals.

So people such as students intending to study in the UK for more than six months are caught by this new requirement.

Nothing in this affects people who already needed a visa to enter the UK, such as anyone, of whatever nationality, who wishes to apply for a fiancé(e) or spouse visa.
