Please take a look n advise- this is very urgent

Post by 9603196090 » Tue Jul 07, 2009 8:58 am

Hi everyone

am flying on tier1 (POST STUDY) work this week....i have a doubt on funds

Firstly i want to make it clear that my case is genuine

am not carrying pound 2800 cash as a proof of funds along with me but a part of it.....

do we really need to carry 2800 pounds along with us to prove that we have sufficient funds to support us?

are they checking these things at airport? (post visa checks)
what if we don't show the cash at airport?
although am carrying original letter from bank confirming the level of funds which i submitted at the time of application
please inform me asap

Thanks in advance

Cheers

You don't have to carry all funds in cash. If you have in Bank that is well enough.

@chetanojha

what if I withdraw the amount and don't want to carry all of it?

I want to carry just a small part of it?

I was thinking that If i really need those funds in UK then I will ask my parents to transfer it.....

This is fine. Nobody carry high amount with them. If you have in bank that is fine too. You "may" have to satisy immigratino officer that funds are available at your disposal at any point of time. That's all. To be honest, I am never asked to prove funds.

yes but what i meant is semething different than what you replied

am telling you that I will withdraw the money, ok?

then if i don't carry?

then what are the possible checks at airport?

If I don't withdraw the amount again it will create a problem....as they might have assumed that i will withdraw the amount b4 travelling....now if I have 0 balance in my account....then what?

Please advise...thanks a lot mate

I am not sure about this scenario. You cannot predict the checks on Airport as they are very random.It is good to have amount in Bank just in case IO wants to verify it.Also good to carry Credit card with higher limit(if you want to carry). If you withdraw money and do not carry it with you clearly it will turn up in checks. Isn't it? I am not sure Immigration Officer will do that time consuming checks. But since it has become very strict nowadays...better keep your case as straight forward as possible.

My guess is that you wouldn't want to get the funds out of FD itself and see if you can try managing with the amount you are carrying.

If that's the case - good luck. You will not probably.

There's a reason why HO states X amount of funds as maintenance.

@rsatish

you misunderstood mate....

I must withdraw funds b4 i leave to UK....because am the account holder and later no one can withdraw the funds.....only i can withdraw the funds on demand and I have the authority......so I am withdrawing the amount but NOT CARRYING WHOLE AMOUNT....is it clear mate?

although am travelling with one month living expenses...In case If I don't get any job in a month then I will ask my parents to transfer rest of the money.....hope it is clear this time...

Well, firstly I'm not your mate. Don't use it on people you don't know. (this will be useful when doing business here.)

This is just my opinion.

Second, no one carries full funds in cash. TCs are one option.

After one month it might be costlier and time consuming to receive funds from India.

At one point I had to put in 3.5k as a deposit urgently - had I given the funds to my parents, it would have taken few days for the money to come.
