ILR ????????????????? help

Post by hsmp-cheema » Wed Jul 22, 2009 6:59 pm

HI ALL,
I got my HSMP visa on 13/08/07 but arrived UK on 02/10/07.
my question is if my 5 year time for ILR will start from 13/08/07 or 02/10/07? i got my 3 years extension till 12/08/2012. i am worry if 5 years period starts from my arrival, then it means i have to apply again for another extension, after 3 years?
or will qualify for ILR with 5 year visa, with less than 180 days absence from uk during 5 years??????

I guess they are passing a bill to make it as 8yrs from July '11, instead of 5yrs.
So, in anycase you will be applying for an extension isn't?

well the op was alway going to have to apply for an extension because the current extension will be approximately 50days short of the 5 year mark.

the thing to remember is that the 8year period will be reduced to 6 if you satisfy the 'probationary citizenship' requirement. They havent anounced what will happen to people when the initial 5 years elapses, whether you be given a years extension or 3 years

Probationary citizenship will be point based as well. You need qulaify again with new points system for Probationary citizenship and take it from there. People who entered UK after July 2006 will be assesed under new system.
