I have seen in the form (2nd page) that it ask 'how many passports you have got (including cancelled ones)'. Now, my son has two passport (old & new). If I mention two there, do I need to send both passports?

Also, do they send back those documents seperately(not with the new British passport?

Also, do I need to send my passport which has got ILR stamp on it?(since his passport has n't got ILR stamp on it)?
I saw in the passport application guidelines somewhere that you need to send your current passport thats why I just sent one and in the form I mentioned about only one passport.

Yes, the supporting documents are returned in a separate post. There is an option on the passport application form about returning the documents by secure delivery. If you have ticked that box and applying through post office check & send, they will charge you extra for each application for returning the documents. I had three applications and paid extra £3 for each.

As you have his registration certificate, I think you don't need to send your passport.

If you pay extra for the secure return of the supporting documents, they will be hand delivered to you (secure standard delivery written on the envelope) which I don't think is royal mail and doesn't require you to sign it.

.... I don't think is royal mail ,,,,,
That is right. About 3 years ago the Passport Office became very concerned about the number of new passports etc going missing in the post. The outcome is that they no longer use Royal Mail but instead use a courier company (the name of which escapes me).

HSMPLover, in your list of "events" you have missed out .... Date of Citizenship Ceremony. That should come after "Date of receipt of approval".

The point is that "merely" getting the "application successful" letter does not make you British. You only become British when your Certificate of Naturalisation is handed to you at your Citizenship Ceremony. And the number of your certificate needs to be quoted on your British passport application form.

Hi John,

Just to clarify that was for my children.

I suppose children don't have to attend "Citizenship Ceremony".

Whoops! Yes you are right.

Except if the child's MN1 form is submitted at the same time as the parent's AN form, the child will be invited to the parent's Citizenship Ceremony, and if they attend they will be presented with their Certificate of Registration. My step-daughter got her certificate in that way.

They use a special courier, not royal mail for the delivery of passports. If you ticked premium service for which there is a charge of a few pounds extra, they will also send your documents via same special courier.

Hi John

Does this apply to s3(1) applications only? I see no point in holding s1(3) apps, especially when children are under 2 (as in my case)?

Many thanks,

I am not sure how it actually works but I suppose if when you get the approval letter for you child it doesnt come with the registration certificate you could call them and ask them to send to you straight away

I have been going through your old postings, can you please confirm how did you finally manage to get referees for registration ? Did you also use same referee / reference for passport ?

hello,

For the naturalization application, my one referee was the kids GP (someone who knows the kids in a professional manner) and the other was a british passport holder family friend who is also a professional and knows me and my husband and the kids for a long time.

For the passport application the same friend acted as the referee again for both the kids.

finding referees is very confusing in my experience.

Good luck with ur application :)

yes, ofcourse...someone from day nursery can act as a referee as they know your daughter in a professional way...and yes they do need to be british passport holder.
also the NCS ppl told me that if ur child has a child care (he/she need to be a registered child carer) can also sign. if your daughter has a dentist...check with him as well. you can also check with ur local religious center...if they are willing.
hope it all works out fine. with kids u have few options for the referees...

good luck

hi,

its been tough indeed to manage referees for my 20 month baby....still struggling to manage second referee who has dealt professionally with a little one !

Apparently the nursery says they can issue reference letter but cannot sign on the form giving their passport no & home address ! Health visitor says she hardly knows the baby !

Do you think only if I manage two ref ( british passport holders ) will do incase I cannot manage someone who has dealt professional with my little one ? !

MN1 application successful

Post by Jambo » Fri Oct 02, 2009 10:53 am

Hi,

I used this forum to get info about the registration process so here is my share giving back.

NCS or Postal: NCS
Date of submission or posting: 16/09/09
Date of arrival at HO: 17/09/09
CRITERIA - 2 children (age 5,3) under Section 1(3). Parents and children obtained ILR in July 2009.
Date of debit of debit/credit card: 20/09/09 (on a Sunday!)
Date of receipt of acknowledgement: 23/09/09 (dated 20/09/09). second class letter
Date of receipt of approval: 02/10/2009 (Certificate dated: 26/09/2009 (a Saturday). letter attached dated: 29/09/09. via first class)

Plan to apply for a passport next week using PO Check and send. Planning to send: children current (non-uk) passports, UK birth certificate, registration certificate, 2 pictures.

Some answers to questions which I believe are asked frequently here:
- NCS application are dealt faster by the HO. Although this is not the official line, I was told by the NCS stuff that this is the case.
- Both registration certificates came under my eldest son name in two separate envelopes (delivered together). The certificate format is similar to the short UK birth certificate. There is no photo on it.
- For references I used a family friend who is a British passport holder and our GP (who is also British). If you read carefully the application instructions, I believe only one of the reference (the non-professional manner) needs to be British.

Thanks for your support and good luck to you all.
:D
