Yup, you have it right. If you have an employer here in Canada who will *sponsor* you, then that's what you need. They might be asked to explain why they would bring a person from outside the country to fill the position instead of hiring locally. Often they tell the government it is due to a specific skill that is hard to find locally, and they have a good working relationship built with the person immigrating.
