One step at a time please!
EEA2 first, valid for 5 years!
And then you will qualify for Permanent Residency after FIVE years of marriage to your EU wife!

Uklucian, you got married yesterday, and today you are asking what happens if you divorce after one year? Tut, tut!

Anyway, the answer to your question is, if you divorce after one year, you have no retained rights, and would need to leave the UK.

If you divorced after 3 years of marriage, and at least one year of that is spent in the UK, then you might have retained rights to stay in the UK.

But I have to say, a very strange question for you to ask, one day after your marriage.

Agreed. OP, I hope your wife doesn't read that, I can imagine she'd be very insulted.

I think genuine couples that truly get married for love, tend to believe that they will be together forever, despite the high divorce rates. They especially don't think about divorce a few days after marriage. Very odd.

oh and I hate this comment. If you don't like women and they're not good enough for you, you don't have to be with them and you especially don't have to marry em. I know you were joking but so are teenage boys that call girls "bitches" and then when people do it enough, it becomes socially acceptable. For example, in the US they will bleep out words on television that are derrogatory towards men but they never bleep out the word "bitch" even though everyone knows there is no dog being mentioned!!

Sorry for the rant I'm just a bit pissed off after dealing with comments like this my whole life.
