Maintenance funds in joint account query

Post by nsv » Sat Jan 09, 2010 8:13 pm

Hi friends,
My wife is applying for tier 1 dependent visa and we are planning to show joint account as proof for maintenance. Joint a/c is in name of following:
myself, my wife and my father.

It has sufficient funds, but i am worried if having my fathers name in above account could be a reason for rejection ?

Could you kindly advise ?

Thanks & Regards,
nsv

I dont think that is a problem. Please find below an excerpt taken from Dependants policy guidance point 84 on page 12.

84. If the applicant wishes to rely on a joint account as evidence of available funds, he/she, the main applicant, or (for children) his/her other parent who is legally present in the United Kingdom, must be named on the account along with one or more other named individual(s).

Hi aruni4470,
Thanks for the reply.

Actually there is one thread which suggests this as a reason for rejection:
http://www.immigrationboards.com/viewtopic.php?t=31867

So i am confused and have visa appointment only 2 days away ..

Thanks,
nsv

Hello NSV,

Just read the topic you sent. The policy guidance clearly states 'one or more other named individual(s)'. But, if somebody had a personal experience then that holds good. Not sure if anyone else had this problem.
Can some seniors in the forum please shed some light on this. Thanks
