Council housing and ILR

Post by juliajules1979 » Wed Feb 24, 2010 2:06 pm

Hi

I am a British Citizen since birth, My husband is in the UK on a settlement visa and will apply for ILR in a few months time. I have registered our joint names on the local council housing register.

I read on the home office site that this counts as public funds. I spoke to home office, who said check with the local autority, I spoke to them they said they think it is ok.

We have not been offered any place yet, we are just registered on the list.

Will this be looked on as trying to obtain a public fund, or is it my right as a British citizen to be registered and include my spouse in the application?

Many Thanks.
