Apagun,

I am surprised that you had such an answer from Immigration General Enquiry line that ''your case is with caseworking unit''

you are lucky really to have such an answer instead of getting told '' your case is not yet been completed''

that is the answer they give to everybody like preprogrammed robot.

anyway your answer is: your documants is with the caseworking section where the caseworkers sit and see the files in order to receive.

hmnnnn, taylondon,

i just think the guy just told me sth else so as not to be robotic.i was told like 6 weeks ago that my application is with a caseworker and do u remember the format of those letters they send to mp that "the application is with the necessary caseworking unit i guess u ve got that letter from your mp too like 2 months ago and till date nothing has been done.
i just have a feeling we are been fooled by this people especially those robots at the enquiry line.
i just believe it will not be there forever cos i am anxious to know what they will tell me when i call next week.

Just going by the sample in this thread for the 10 year ILRs (granted it's not a big sample and may not be statistically relevant), surely UKBA can no longer proclaim 95% of applications within 6 months anymore. This is a joke.

Reply Back from My MP

Post by oluwa112 » Thu Feb 25, 2010 6:12 pm

Well well well... So my MP finally sends me a letter and attached to it was the Home Office Reply to the MP - Since my contact to them 25th Nov 2009 - Received 25th Feb 2010. So 3 months for my MP to get a status report on my behalf! I will definitely be voting this coming election!! *Without Question*

UKBA - MP
Confirmed my Full Name, Date of Application and On what Basis my ILR was on (10 yrs Long Residence).

Then they go on to say that my application is awaiting consideration and will be dealt with in due course. - Dated 17th Feb 2010

MP - Me
Your case is currently under active review, however sorry to report that due to the complicated nature of your immigration to the UK, the UKBA cannot give a specific date for a decision to be made regarding your ILR. UKBA will contact you directly once a decision has been made - Dated 18th Feb 2010

As you all know my ILR was issued on 17th Feb 2010. And as I had e-mailed my Interview officer on the 12th with scanned supporting documents, and only after she read that e-mail @ 9am did my Application actually get considered by 2.20pm on the 17th (she e-mailed me). If my Immigration was that Complicated surely they would not have been able to make a decision on my application in a few hours! If I hadn't e-mailed on the 12th, I VERY CERTAIN that would still be counting the weeks and days. Its Just not fair this whole process and I desperately feel for those applying on Long residence Basis. They really seem not much in a hurry to consider them compared to the others. I keep coming on hear to check on any News from the Long Residence applications but still Nothing :(

Some relevant reading here regarding UKBA targets.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8537987.stm

I believe this is the same caseworking unit that deals with the 10 year ILRs. I guess the £820 fee isn't enough to justify a separate unit to process those applications.

NO!!! You're one of the extremely lucky few :)

According to your timeline you only had to wait 4 days. Now that is a record! Did you perhaps mean 1st March? :D

From what I have seearched so far on the internet, there seems to be quite a big varition in the waiting times for ILR based on 5 years work permit. I can see that it can vary between 3 weeks at its best to more than 6-7 months or even more.

I am wondering if this variation is due to differing complexities in applications or just the work load at the home office !

Mine is quite a straight forward application I think, but still its already been 5 weeks now. I was planning on going on a holiday in April, but now I think I must not book anything before I get the passport back.

Sorry tintin, I totally mis-read your initial post. I thought you said you have received your ILR but you're still waiting :(

I'm having an idiot day so please forgive me.

I sent my ILR application at nearly the exact same time and it will be 6 weeks this Wednesday. But mine is totally different scenario to you so I don't expect to hear for a long time.

Hope you do hear this week.

I applied 10 years long residence SET (O) on 17/08/09 and is still waiting: now 28 weeks and 1 day.

My MP has checked the progress for me for the second time. The responses I have is "my case is under active review. However, they cannot tell when the decision can be made due the complex immigration background." This is the same response with oluwa's.

I also just called the UKBA and they tell me my case is handled in Livepool currently.

It would be nice if they could tell you why it was complex. Then you wouldn't be left wondering and have some peace of mind. Ha ha, just dawned on me that it's probably a standard response they give to everyone no matter the status of your app... no laughing matter but

I saw a news item about security checks that a section of the HO carry out for other Government depts. There is currently a 6 month wait for the "extensive check" for those complex applications. I wonder if that is the same check that holds up certain ILR apps???

OK, it seems your's is a similar application to mine (5 year on WP and Tier2). I posted my stat a while ago but just got my passports today!

Date applied 8th Dec.
Payment taken - 9th Dec
Ack recd - 10 Dec
ILR stamped-18 Feb
Passport recd - 01 March.

Overall 11-12 weeks. I wrote to my mp as I have work related travel, but I guess ILR is stamped before their letter reached HO. Anyway good luck to everyone. Hope you'll receive your application in time!

From what I gathered, the visa will be dated when the application was actually dealt with, however, you should receive an accompanying backdated letter saying you were free from immigration controls on so so date [the date you completed the 5 [or 4] years]

Any other view?
