@Barua - Good luck to you! I think it will be fine because I have a friend who had even more days away from the UK and he still got his ILR.

Were any of your absences due to work?

Keep us updated.

I submitted mine on 5 year WP basis on 25th jan 2010, still waiting to hear from UKBA.

ILR time

Post by goody09 » Wed Mar 03, 2010 12:41 pm

Hi there,

For ILR based on 5 years WP employment you should start to expect it from 10 weeks and onward, for mine I have recieved on 22/12/2009 exactly 11 weeks from application, it seems that they only open the application after 10 weeks for JR it is abit faster, hope this is going help

Best wishes

Goody

tintin wrote:From what I have seearched so far on the internet, there seems to be quite a big varition in the waiting times for ILR based on 5 years work permit. I can see that it can vary between 3 weeks at its best to more than 6-7 months or even more.

I am wondering if this variation is due to differing complexities in applications or just the work load at the home office !

Mine is quite a straight forward application I think, but still its already been 5 weeks now. I was planning on going on a holiday in April, but now I think I must not book anything before I get the passport back.

Thanks tintin. dont know if they'll class my Indian employer asking me go back to offshore and work from there for those 7 months as absence due to work. No i was not receiving any UK salary during that absence, anyway had attached a letter from employer mentioned this. Dont know what has fate in store(in postoffice) for me tomorrow.
Either way i'll update here as this forum has helped a lot.
cheers,
Barua

I have a question to ask if anyone could help - My passport is missing one entry stamp, is that going to be a problem?

Thanks tintin and others for your encouraging words.
I finally got it. It took 8 weeks exactly. Kept all documentation simple and straight and a covering letter in plain english.
This forum was immensely helpful to me.
Wish all others who are waiting a very good luck.
Happy to help other members on here.
thanks,

Are you still there Sheng, Oluwa, Croydon, Taylondon and Terriblefish? According to the last update there were 9 on the list and only two have had positive results!
Yes, I am still here....

Still, no news at all from Home Office. Called them yesterday and the answer from them was always the same---please wait...

Had my passport sent on 5 August last year, guess I can do nothing but wait...

Barua, thats brilliant news. Congratulations! I am sure you must be celebrating this weekend.

As I mentioned in my previous message guys, I have a question. My passport is missing one UK entry stamp for some reason. I have been out of the UK quite a few times and my passport was always stamped on entry. Howevrer on one occasion it was not stamped and i only realized this when i was making the ILR application.

Is this a normal thing to not have an entry stamp? or is it going to cause problems for me? Other than this my application is quite straight forward.

if you have not been out of country continously for more than 90 days and have not been paid in uk and you should not be more than 180 days out of country in last five years

then it should be ok

Thanks Booboo ... but whats actually concerning me is that since there is no entry stamp on my passport, how will the home office know that i actually came back on the date that i claim?

There might be a stamp from exit country
if you still hold the tickets and travel information. It should suffice.
Salary slips for that period and letter from employer.
You can prove from many ways

yes I did get an exit stamp when I departed from New Delhi. Do yu think they will accept that as proof?

Moreover I did send them the P60 for that year, and also a letter from my previous employer confirming that I worked for them from such to such date. Unfortunately I did not have any salary slips from that period nor did I retain my tickets or boarding pass stubs!

I am just hoping that they dont make a big issue out of this, a missing entry stamp is not my mistake after all !

Tintin,
dont worry everything shud be fine, they definitely wud have access to the databases(esp during these days) to check ur entry exit, even though they might have forgot to stamp.
