Requirements for renting accommodation?

Post by pyke » Fri Apr 16, 2010 1:54 pm

Hi,

Can someone please tell me are the requirements that need to be fulfilled in order to rent a place e.g. documents that must be produced? Is there a minimum amount in one's account that has to be shown to the owner or agency such as six months rental before they allow someone to rent a place?

How many months rental is typically required for a deposit?

Thanks!

Deposit is one/one and half months plus one month rent in advance. Credit checks are taken which might be an issue for a new immigrant - no credit history.

The want to see payslips or bank if no payslips yet.

Thanks Wanderer. What would be an acceptable amount to have in the bank in that case?

I would say enough to pay the term of the lease plus the deposit.

I apologise for yet another question, but how long can I opt for the lease duration? Something like six months, a year and two years?

Got to do some calculations.

Tenancy agreements are for one year.
Can be short as well.
