Citizenship question

Post by Thetruthprevials » Mon May 17, 2010 9:40 am

Hi all, i have a question. In order to apply for citizenship, you have to not spend more than 90 days away from the country one year after your ILR. For example if i am working away from the U.K for 3 months and i visit once a month, is this ok?

Thanks

You shouldnt be absent from UK for more than 90 days in last 12 months. Simple. How many times you enter or leave is immaterial. The law doesnt specify that after how much stay outside the UK you should be back. Law just says you shouldnt be "absent" from UK for more than 90 days in last 12 months.

From date when you make your citizenship application, count backwards 12 months.

eg. If you apply on 01/06/2010 then you shouldnt have been absent from UK for more than 90 days between 01/06/2009 to 31/05/2010

Also please note that the day you leave and the day you come back is not counted as absence

eg. If you left UK on 01/05/2010 and back on 10/05/2010, then the absence would be 8 days and not 10 days.
