4 weeks and still no COA for my EEA2?

Post by Gabrielle » Mon May 24, 2010 11:26 am

Hi everyone,

I made a joint application for my EEA 2 and my husband's EEA which I sent via special delivery on the 20/04/10. On 21/04/10 HO signed for my package which I tracked via the Royal Mail website. I have sent them two polite letters, 13/05 & 20/05, (quoting 17 (3) of the Immigration (European Economic Area) Rules 2006) and they have still not yet contacted me in any way.

I am growing concerned, what can I do?

Gabrielle

Call them to check your appliction has been lodged in the system. Ask whether the COA has been issued and if not, when? Phone (9 to 5 only) 0845 010 5200

' have also received my COA on Monday. Posted my applicatino on 27 April, received by HO on 28 Apr. Date on the COA is 14 May. I think I got this sooner than most people probably because I sent 2 emails and 1 fax complaints to HO, 1 email complaint to SOLVIT and 2 email complaints to my MP and I called HO every day to harrass them! So for those who are still waiting for their COA, please don't stop bombarding the HO with emails, faxes and phone calls!! ha ha. I'm so happy that I finally have the evidence that I can work in the UK. Now I just hope the Residence Card will be issued within 6 months....'

This is a quote from one op who received the COA on 17-5-10.It seems H/O have no uniformity. Also it depends whether your case is straight foward or not.
They dont have FIRST IN FIRST OUT policy!

Thank you WellingtonKiwi & maganzo for your replies. I'll contact my MP today and start bothering HO a bit more :-)
I think our case is pretty straight forward. My only concern is that I only have 3 months left on my visa. Oh and we are moving house in a week, but without a ref no. for our application, how can we let them know?

The documents were very organised in a file with an index and everything was very clearly marked, so I don’t think they could find fault with it.
Does anyone perhaps have the fax number to which I can direct my complaints to?

Many thanks,

Gabrielle

Definitely call them about – it may be that your application is in the system but the COA is slow coming.... or else give them a hurry up – remind them that under EEA regs the COA is required to be issued immediately!

Here’s the details for the North West Unit
The North West CSU can deal with complaints from customers living in the region or complaints about the service provided by the region. It also deals with complaints relating to citizenship and nationality applications, and to applications by EEA nationals.

In this context, "Certificate of application of a Residence card of a family member of a Union citizen".

Raise Hell. Send them faxes, letters, and emails to their complaints Unit. This is what I did, and it worked quite well.
