Success at PEO Croydon

Post by nnkhan99 » Sat Jun 12, 2010 2:13 pm

Hiya - My husband and I had a successful visit to PEO Croydon and got his ILR under SET (M).

We arrived at 8AM and our appointment was at 9AM. The guy at the door said you are too early but since our little baby was with us he let us through. Then the security guard called us and we went through the metal detectors. My husband then waited in line to get his papers checked while I was asked to sit down as I was pushing the stroller. Luckily when his turn came, our baby was asleep so I went to the window with my husband. She asked to see documents from 2008. She told us that the payment page had to be filled out. So we filled that.

Then we were escorted to the first floor where we made the payment. We were given a token for 1st floor and after waiting for an hour we were told that there had been a mistake and our number was being called on the 2nd floor. Anyhow, they told us to wait of first floor and called us soon.

At first the lady thought that there was an issue with my husband's passport so she went to get it checked out. After 20 minutes she returned and said all was OK. Then she asked us to make three piles with documents from 2008, 2009 and 2010. She checked all the documents in turn.

At the end she asked to see our baby's birth certificate (luckily at the last minute I had grabbed it) She made photocopies and said that : Your ILR has been granted. Please collect your passport in an hour and a half.

We decided to stay in the building and wait as we were being escirted everywhere as we had to use the elevator and I couldnt go through security again.

The passport was ready in an hour. The people were very serious but helpful. But there were hardly any people who smiled.

thank you to all of you who helped me get through this application with your advice. I will be returning when we gear up to apply for citizenship :D

Ta for now.

Got a quick question is there any chance you could list the documents you took with you to croydon.

And also i have gone through your posts and couldnt work out when you managed to get your premium appointment. I mean what month/date before 28th June,10?

I got my Spouse Visa 09.10.08, arrived in UK 14.10.08 what date should i be looking to apply for the ILR??

Thanks in advance

Any time after the 16th September 2010 (28 days before the 2nd anniversay of your arrival in the UK) :)

My wife got her ILR in March this year and we applied within the 28 day period without any problems. Went to Croydon PEO for the premium service and found it fairly straightforward but still a little daunting. :)

We went on 1st June 2010. The visa was expiring on 9th June.

I made a file of all the documents.

1. Life in the UK Test
2. Marriage certificate
3. NHS cards
4. Driver's licence counterparts
5. Tenancy agreement - for all the places we lived at
6. Bank statements for all our accounts - 6 months
7. Pay slips - 6 months
8. P60s - all years
9. All kinds of bills and official letters addressed to both of us. There were 23 items but even then they were not enough. Be sure to have at least 6 for each year which is a proof of your address.
10. Birth certificate of our baby
11. Employment letter for my husband

I made sure I had more documents than needed. All the above documents were in my name and my husband's name jointly or separately. I had no idea that they would want our baby's birth certificate but they asked for it. Even my payslips for the year 2008.

If you think a document might be valid, just take it with you.

Good luck.

You can start looking for same day appointment slots online prior to the 16th Sept, but make sure you book your actual appointment between 16th Sept & 14th Oct, as it's difficult to get slots if you leave it too late, that's speaking from experience!!! :)

Congratualtions nnkhan99 for your husband!

Could you please tell me what letter you got from your husbands employer and what the letter said. My husband is applying soon and I am trying to gather all the info needed!

It was just a basic letter saying when he started the employment, how many hours he works and what he gets paid.
