non EEA family with RC can I have my own family now?

Post by amal1970 » Sat Jun 12, 2010 4:58 pm

HI,
I have my RC as a dependent of my sister in law.
I wonder if I can now get married and have my own family?
A solicitor's advice is that if I have my own family then I am no longer dependent of EEA and there for I lose my RC.

Who are you getting married to?
Is it a UK Citizen on an EEA national.

If it is someone from your home country (non EEA) I am pretty sure you will loose your RC because it would stand to reason that you are forming a new family with your husband and will be dependant on him.

The directive only allows for direct and extended family members and their dependants.
