One Stop Visa firm has been closed down

Post by tbbcuk » Fri Jul 09, 2010 11:24 pm

One Stop Visa (run by Norman Saville & Co) has been intervened into (in other words, closed down) by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) on 5 July 2010. [Edit: link removed]

I paid over 700 pounds to them last month for my ILR application, which is scheduled to start in Oct, I haven't received any service yet but they has shut down this Monday!! Honestly, I am very lucky I didn't send my documents to them yet!!
Thats why I post a thread earlier to get advise about which good law firm to use, the reason why I need a law firm is because I got 9 days gap in my 10 years residency and I want to get some expert to send the application on my behave to give me higher chance to success (although I understand a single gap less than 10 days normally get discretion, I just want to put my mind at rest). One stop visa sounded very confident on the phone about their ability to help me thats why I paid for their service. I am in process to get my money back, hopefully, finger cross, everything will be ok.

One Stop Visa is not regulated by OISC but they are regulated by Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA). I think a firm can either regulated by OISC or SRA but not both.

Should I find a law firm regulated by OISC this time?? Does it matter??
Any comment from those expert in this forum??
