marriage reconciliation

Post by mandyred » Sun Jul 25, 2010 12:54 pm

Hi this is my first post on the forum so I hope I get it right!!
I lived in south africa for 16 years and whilst there married a south african man. We lived together in south africa for 10 years as man and wife until 4 years ago when I left him and came home and settled again in the UK. I am british so that wasn't a problem. My estranged husband came over on a 6 month general visitors visa and we have spent time together and wish to reconcile our marriage and live in the UK together. Could you please tell me if there is a possiblity of him now applying from the Uk to be allowed to stay with me here?

Thanks in advance for any advice

Agreed, in-country switch from visitor hasn't been possible since 2003.

another question

Post by mandyred » Sun Jul 25, 2010 5:30 pm

Thankyou for the advice. Could you please tell me what visa in south africa he would need to apply for, and what documentation he would need me to provide to support his application. I am just worried that as I have been here for 4 years and he has been over there that immigration will not give him permission to enter as my husband.

Surely they are married, indeed have been married for years, so it is a spouse visa that would be applied for.
