on AN form where it asks for
2.1 Date and place of first arrival in the United Kingdom

should i fill in when i fist came to the uk on 05/10/2000 on a visit visa which i overstayed or on 14/07/2007 when i came back after going home to apply for a spouse visa

from the guidance notes
SECTION 2: RESIDENCE REQUIREMENTS
2.1 Enter the day you first arrived with a view to staying in the UK on a long-term
basis, and the airport or seaport through which you then entered. If this is less than
5 years before the date on which we receive the application, or less than 3 years
before this date if you are married to or the civil partner of a British citizen, you
might not meet the residence requirement (see page 4) and your application may
be unsuccessful.

You have to write 05/10/2000, they just want to know which date first time enter not a visa or legally or illegally
