ILR Success with >230 days absence(Croydon in person)

Post by indianbear » Sat Sep 04, 2010 7:55 am

HI i managed to get my ILR yesterday and just thought i will share my experience here. okay heres how it went :

I have been here since 2005 on a Work Permit. FLR was from (01.09.2005 to 01.10.2010)
In 2008 , I changed employer and got another work permit plus another FLR which ran for another 5 years. (10.10.2008 to 10.10.2013)

Made an appointment via the online system - made a mistake and chose the SET(M) , called and changed it to SET (O). Yeah - how stupid can one get , anyway to continue ,

Once i started the process of getting my documents ready i realised that i had more than 180 days of absence in the UK. After taking out all the days i flew out of the UK and flew back in the UK , the total of absence days was 232 days. I got worried and started thrawling through the threads to figure out what i could do. I discovered nothing much but to create an absences spreadsheet.

I created a spreadsheet that listed my absences in 3 categories :

1. Holidays in EU states during weekends , bank holidays on annual leave quota
2. Holidays in Home country - part annual leave , part unpaid leave
3. Holidays in Other countries - part annual leave , part unpaid leave

I also listed for each category :

1. exact day i left the country
2. exact day returned
3. numbered my passports - as I had 3 passports (2 old ones)
4. page in the passport where the entry/exit stamps where in with indication which passport the stamps were in , either passport 1 , 2 or 3
5. reason for absences - down to the destination i went to
6. highlighted (in grey fill in) - my absences due to attending a funeral and a wedding
7. created 3 columns for each category for annual leave , weekend , bank holidays and unpaid leave and ticked the relevant section for each leave

In the end , i also created a section which compared all my leave in different categories , like below :

1. Total absence : 232 days
2. Total absences (minus holdiays in EU States) : 179 days
3. Total absences (minus holdiays in EU States & attending funeral ) : 174 days
4. Total absences (minus holdiays in EU States, attending funeral and wedding) : 154 days
5. i only had 25 days on unpaid leave

these are the actual numbers that i submitted.

well on the day of the interview - the lady didnt even look at the absence for more than 5 minutes, and no question asked as well.

and other docs i gave were :

3 months bank statements (she took only 2)
3 months pay slips
all my P60s ( i only had for 2010 , 2008 ,2007)
my P45 from previous employer
Life in the uk test pass cert
letter from employee

i brought my entire 5 years worth of pay slips and bank statements with me though , together with a death cert ( for the funeral i attended and wedding cert as prove i had to attend a wedding - well mine actually)

but only the bolded stuff were asked,

anyway thats it - got the ILR.

and oh yeah - it took ages to get it as they were running late by 1 hr and 45 mins but whos complaining .....

anyway - all the best to everyone and thank you for all your help.

if anyone wants to view the spreadsheet - i can send it to them. send me an email with subject (FLR Spreadsheet)

May I suggest that people PM the OP (indianbear), instead of posting their personal email IDs publicly.

Hi,

I have a quick question, Did you joined new employer just after getting home office letter for successful WP Transfer and BEFORE applying FLR for new employer?

Regards
VG
