NATURALISATION

I guess I have asked this question before but never got an answer. Can somebody please help me. I am applying for naturalisation .I was made banrupt and have only been discharged for a year. I have declared my bankruptcy as I know I have to declare it. Now my question is: I read somewhere that I can not be given naturalistion if I have only been discharged for a year it has to be 10 years is that true as I do not want to waste money.
