Moving out of the UK after becoming a Citizen

Post by kenfrapin » Tue Oct 05, 2010 10:19 am

Ok, I am not very sure if this is the right sub forum and if not, apologies up front and request to relocate it as required.

My question is around validity and any issues for the below scenario
I will be eligible for British citizenship in a year's time. Now, once I secure this, I plan to also apply for Overseas Citizen of India or OCI so I can travel freely back home. I have elderly parents back home and God forbid, if their health deteriorates or for any other reason I have to pack up and spend the next 3 or 4 years back in India then will there be any issues?

Can a person and his family have a British passport with OCI and then live in India indefinitely? Or is there some limit? Also, will the Indian Govt raise any fingers if we live and work as OCIs beyond a certain amount of time?

Thanks
KP

should not be a problem at all ,OCI will allow you to work freely in India.

A very good friend of mine is working as a doctor here in India. He was in UK for 10 yrs till 2003.

Exceptions:-

1. You cannot work in Govt jobs
2. Buy any Agricultural land.

Looking at the document am confused about this point

>What activities can be undertaken in India?
All activities except mountaineering, missionary and research work and existing PAP/RAP which require specific permit.

What mountaineering, missionary ?
What is PAP/RAP

Google - Protected Area Permit (PAP) and Restricted Area Permit (RAP).
