How many times I could extend my stay?

Post by nachieket » Wed Oct 06, 2010 12:26 am

Hi All,

I just want to know that how many times I could extend my stay in UK? I got my Tier-1 first time in Nov 2011 but came to UK in Feb 2009. So it seems I might not be able to apply for ILR in Nov 2013. I would be applying for extension before Nov 2011 but would I be able to apply for extension once again in Nov 2013? Is there a limit on number of extension applications you can make?

Please help me in understanding this one.

Thanks

Under current rules, as many times as you may wish.

Thanks buddy. So I hope now the rules do not change and I am able to apply for second extension in 2013 to apply for ILR in Feb 2014.

Code: Select all

Under current rules, as many times as you may wish.
If you say current rule, we are having different point’s criteria for Tier1 General Initial and Extension applications.

It will be considered as an initial application or extension ?

I do have same assumption but this particular case complete one round of tier1 life cycle (3+2 years) will be over so i am confused with exact rule.
As per my knowledge it is no where explained in the home office website.

How long can you extend your stay?
If we approve your extension application, you will be able to continue living and working in the UK for a maximum period of three years (or two years if you are currently a Tier 1 (General) migrant whose current permission to stay was granted before 6 April 2010).
At the end of this period, you may have lived continuously in the UK as a highly skilled migrant for five years. You can then apply to settle permanently in the UK. If you are not yet eligible for settlement, you can apply for permission to extend your stay under Tier 1 (General) again.
