Its to do with the roll-over from October. I guess the story will be repeated in the next month as well, as more people might be applying for Tier -1 due to nervousness about future changes/ uncertainty about the level of permanent cap.

If I were applying early next year like February/March I would seriously consider to start applying real soon. You may find December 1st reopens and closes the NEXT day because they still trying to process the backlog from October. It will become even worse and will ALL start applying early due to a panic situation.

Apply sooner rather than later. Especially if you are relying on points for AGE as you may find your application is delayed and you move into another AGE band

It closed on the 20th October = 10 days before end of month

It closed on 10th November = 10 days before before previous month

According to my calcs December will therefore not be OPEN, it will CLOSE before it even opens.

actually its looks like your points will still be awarded depending on the date you sent in your application. So if it is sitting with UKBA for 3 or 4 months it doesnt matter as they will issue points depending on the date you applied/submitted the documents. Is this correct?

Although trying to plan your departure to the UK around a date that is now moving each month due to a back log could be tricky.

My guess is that by, say, January or Feb, applications sent that month won't even reach the queue, as the unconsidered applications from previous months with reach the cap.

My understanding was there was only to be a 5% reduction in number of visas issued - is this correct?

Maybe their is a deluge of people panicked by the current and impending changes? Or is it a case of their being a low number of applications ayear ago because of the masters requirement?

The Tier1(General) 'Guidance' says that:
At the end of the interim period, applications that have not been concluded will be considered in accordance with the new rules that replace the interim limits.
....
Therefore, UKBA cannot guarantee that any application will qualify under the new rules, which could be significantly different than those rules in operation for the interim limits.

I think.... :x

I don't know what my situation is going to be as I'm planning to apply in the first or second week of Jan. I wish I can apply now and get it cleared in Dec.
I'm waiting for my maintenance funds to reach 30 days. I will be eligible after Dec 27.

I really wish I don't get hammered with new rules as I will be scoring only 100 points but without any multiplier.

Hope it was a typo. The maintenance funds need to be kept for 90 days not 30 days.

I'd suggest that you apply as soon as you reach the funds requirement - so on 27th / 28th Dec.

It's just a waiting game for me...my funds would have cleared the 90 day mark by 21 December. You can be sure that I will apply on the first day possible.

Hi,

I have applied for the Tier 1 today morning at bangalore VFS. Was shocked to hear that the limit for the month has reached :( .

Is thr any probability for me to get the visa by first week of December?

Did anyone who applied after 20th October got the visa in November?

Anyone still waiting for the visa who has applied on October 2010?

I think it's all to do with the processing centre, nothing to do with the nationality of the applicant. We were lucky to get our visa processed quite quickly (10 days) but the processing centre our applications went to (Dusseldorf) historically makes decisions within 2 days (looking at the August and September data this is the case) so even this was slow. Probably they are normally fast because not many people apply through Europe.

We are Australians living in Holland, but I believe the wait is quite long if you are applying through the Australian processing centre in Canberra.

Our agent gave us the impression that the quota might be completely full up due to a backlog by January, so people should apply ASAP. This is just speculation though.

Good luck to everyone.
