Have you contacted the UKBA who had your passport in the first place?

Just make the call and see what they dig up. It's been known that threatening to "take things further" via a local MP or otherwise mysteriously unearths the mislaid document.

If you do not get satisfaction directly with UKBA, then you should definitely contact your MP.

I would be curious to hear what happened to the passport. Did you request it back earlier for travel?

Hopefully this is not the case, but if they have lost it, you can request compensation.

a friend of mine was in the same situation he got a letter resently saying they 've search for it but couldn't find any; that they are ready to pay the compensation for it. But he preferred to have the passport back than the compensation because he submitted the passport includes the one he has been using ever he is been young like 8 years old and the resent passport. so he is confused if there is anything he can do to get this passport back; he is curious how passport can get missing within the UKBA. Any advise or comment will be welcome
