She's coming next week so I think time will be an issue, the plan is to say she is staying with friends (she can stay with friends if she has to) to get around any entry problems, would that be ok?Casa wrote:You may be safer to apply for a visitor visa before she leaves as the entry officer could take the view that as her husband is here she may remain in the UK after the expiry date and therefore refuse her entry.
That means her having entry clearance before arrival is all the more important ....It's all very hard as she has just lost her job in the USA and will find it hard to meet rent and I've got a house here!
I guess it would make sense for them to record it! So what happens when we apply for spouse visa next year and they see that? Will they just tell us she can never get a visa?MPH80 wrote:If it's on the landing card ...

I'd bet they record it.
I get the not lying bit, it looks/sounds bad for future applications. Don't they usually ask for where you're going to stay first night, can't she book into a hotel and stay there first night and that can be the contact address?MPH80 wrote:It's about deception. If she says "I'm staying at x" and actually stays at Y and gets caught - then that's deception and can have a big impact on the visa process.
Just follow the right process, always tell the truth, show she's got the right reasons to return and it won't be an issue that she's with you.
They always want to know where a visitor is staying for the entire period of visit, not the first night.Don't they usually ask for where you're going to stay first night, can't she book into a hotel and stay there first night and that can be the contact address?
You say you "get the not lying bit" and then suggest some more lies!safc wrote:

She's only just been laid off from work so she could say she has a job and she has a lease book to show she's on a current lease.
