Timeline after submission

Post by Sandieo » Sat Nov 20, 2010 10:03 am

I applied for British Citizenship at Liverpool NCS on 10.11.10 following 14 year long residence concession and a further 5 years ILR. I received my acknowledgement letter today 20.11.10, this was dated 16.11.10. I would like to hear from others ( including timelines ) who have been in a similar situation and later received their British Citizenship.

Earliest date I can apply for naturalisation

Post by TC » Sun Nov 21, 2010 8:37 am

I got ILR on 09/02/2010 (HSMP-JR). What is the earliest date I can post my naturalisation application by special delivery, keeping in mind I have to be on ILR for 1 year? Is it 8th, 9th or 10th Feb 2010? I know I can wait one more week just to be sure, but would like to know?
Thanks.

Technically you can apply on 8/02. But if you apply through NCS, some of the prefer you do that either on the day of the ILR (9/2) or the day after (10/2). But ask the NCS that you apply through for that.

I would recommend that you use NCS, as you can keep your documents with you.

HI Guys,

Guess i should share my story here as i've received tons of PMs regarding my success story telling me to post my timelines but i'm just really bad with dates so here we go.
Dec 2003 - Became EEA family member
Jan 2004 - Received 5 yr RC
Sometime in 2008 seperated from partner (as she started thinking she was a supreme being by me being a dependant, so i told her where to stick it ;-)
Jan 2009 - applied EEA4 under my own rights
Jan 2010 - EEA4 VOIDED (not refused) due to invalid passport i.e my old passport had expired before i submitted it for EEA4 (silly thing, but actually bought me time to get to the BC zone)
April 2010 - Reapplied EEA4
July 2010 - COA
Last week in Sept 2010 - Applied for Naturalisation based on 5yrs EEA + 1 Yr PR route (note:PR was attained automatically in Dec 2008)
Oct 2010 - Account got debited by £735 and received COA 2nd week in Oct.
Oct 2010 - Called HO to check status of EEA application bcos of mortgage application and the official said not to worry as a decision has been made on my BC application and the outcome should be fine for the banks but my EEA application had been assigned to a case worker (typical)
http://www.immigrationboards.com/viewto ... e+mortgage
Oct 21st 2010 - Got a call from solicitor that my BC was approved , called the council 2 mins later and booked private ceremony the next day (before they changed their minds :-D)
Oct 22nd 2010 - Became a British Citizen and swore allegiance to Charlie's Mum

let me just add lest i forget and this is the funny bit....
Called HO 23rd of Oct 2010 to request for my docs from the EEA office and was aked why i wanted to do that as my case was with a case worker so i told the geezer on the phone that "mate, cos i'm briish now init" lol (didn't really say that in cockney , just told him politely that i'd naturalised and needed my old passport for my British Passport application.

Nov 10 received my passport back with PR sticker on top, dated the 4th of Nov. I was actually surprised and guess they had no choice but to issue the PR as i'd already beaten them via the BC route.

I wish everyone waiting the best of luck and patience , prayers and getting on with life while your application is pending does pay.

Thanks Haseeb, I am planning to post and won't be using NCS. I will post it on 7th Feb 2010 by special delivery. It will reach HO on 8th, hence on 8th it will be one year since getting ILR as I got ILR on 9/2/2009.

@ICEBREAKER: It must be very frustrating and is annoying....but sometimes we just have to wait and just divert attention. I am sure calling HO again & again will not change anything as persons picking phone are only customer service advisors (& not case workers).

ICEBREAKER wrote:Application sent 26/sep/2010 recieved the acknowlegment letter on 30/sep/2010. I don't understand why ukba is ignoring my application. I can see everone on the forum recieved their approval within three to four weeks. I have no criminal conviction whatsoever maybe the caseworker is very lazy and ukba isn't bothered . Why do i have to wait for six monthd while other ppl got approved in less than 3 weeks. Please help.

I know some people waiting longer than the others for the decision (like me). Finally I phoned HO today, spend few minutes in a queue listen to the Vivaldi's masterpiece music, and then I was informed by the HO advisor that my application has been completed and the decision letter has been sent yesterday, 22nd of Nov. That's about 40 days after I sent my application through NCS. Now I can only wait for the letter and I hope it will contain a good news.

Very pleased, I believe now the hardest bit has been done, it has been some journey, good luck to the rest of you especially ICEBREAKER, mate I am sure it’s nerve racking to see others getting the approval when they sent the application weeks after you, be patient (there is another member on here if you read few pages ago ‘Joe London’ who was in the same situation and did get his approval after waiting longer than expected, so better late than never .)
