Passport Expiry

Hi all,
I am holding Tier-1 (G) visa valid up to Dec 2012. My passport is going to expire when I am outside UK. If I renew my passport outside UK, will there be any problem when I will be coming back to the UK???, Can I carry and show my previous passport bearing my valid visa to Immigration officer at UK entry point????

In same context, are rules any different if I renewed my India passport while in UK?
