STRESS!!! HELP AN ACK LETTER

Post by KC8010 » Sat Jan 15, 2011 7:58 pm

Hi all

Just received ack of AN application - wondering if anyone has advise. When i sent my application in I sent my passport and x 6 P60's

On the letter received today it says, I have included the following docs:

Ceremony covering letter - 1
Reference letters - 6
Registration certificate - 1
Birth certificate - 1

Now - no mention of my passport being received.....very worried now. I have not sent any birth certificate or registration certificate

Can anyone advise if your letters advised the same even though you sent your passport??

Received back? Why? Already processed and approved application?
Or did they return without processing at all?
Why did they return it back to you?

No they sent me an acknowledgement letter stating they have received my application and the £780 fee.

However the letter states also what docs they received with the application - but I sent my passport too and they have not mentioned that they have received the passport, only the documents I have stated in my previous post.

I have not even sent a registration certificate OR birth certiificate BUT in their letter they state they have received them!

Sounds like a standard acknowledgement letter, where they haven't customised it correctly. Contact them for clarification.

My letter lists exactly what I sent (including passport).
Looks like your letter is intended for someone applying to register his kid as a BC.

They probably use a standard template and it looks that in your case someone did not edit it properly before sending. Don't worry, just give them a call to ensure that they received your passport.

Thanks its just so stressful because my passport has EVERYTHING in it - date of first entry and my residence stamps and most importantly my PR card - really dont know what i will do if they have misplaced or even lost my passport!!!

I have just rung HO and they have advised that there is no way of telling what docs have been received from their systems!

The advisor I spoke to says that if I sent my passport with the application and the fee has been taken he can most certainly guarantee that the passport is with them and all the paperwork!

He also said that the ack letter seems to read that of a standard template and the person doing the letter has not ticked the correct boxes with reference to docs received.

All I can do is wait and see if I receive either a refusal letter based that the passport is not there OR a letter stating you claim you have sent the passport but it was not included!

I suppose that someone has made terrible mistake (maybe new case worker under training?).
But I wouldn't worry too much for now.
If they refuse your application (I strongly believe you'll be ok) based on your passport being missing, then you will ask them to send back your birth certificate (which they obviously do not have) and your registration certificate (whatever it is).
I suppose the worst case scenario for you is your case will take a little longer due to undertrained case worker dealing with you.

I do not value my passport as much as you as there is literally nothing in mine - it's completely clean with no stamps.
But then, it could be good reason to use NCS (which for me was just additional and unnecessary cost, so I opted out) for people like you who have a lot of stuff in their passports.

Good Luck

I hear you and that is what I am fearful for - however, people make mistakes trained or undertrained - hopefully in my case it is just a mistake and they do have my passport!!

I will keep you updated

If you sent it, then they have it. Believe me.
Years ago I applied for my investor visa and sent passport to Home Office (think there was no UKBA at that time).
They "lost it" - it means they admitted they had it into their system but they couldn't locate it. It was in the middle of December. They found it in the beginning of February.
Let's hope your is not missing at all, just a mistake in the ack letter.

I cant believe they cant tell me what docs I have received today over the telephone.....I mean comon!

What do you do if the Home office DOES lose your passport??? Surely my application cant be denied because of their negligance??

Thanks!
I just wanted to know as I posted mine (my partner's) on the 11th January, and still haven't been debited on the credit card yet. I was just trying to work out how long we have to wait. Cheers!

I heard that they debit the account anyway - THEN they check documents - hence why the fee would be non refundable....

I even went to the post office today to see if I left the passport there - and they have not got it either.....

I have seen some people are receiving their decisions about 10 days after applications are made!
