IMHO, acknowledgement letter is quite redundant piece of kit and tells you nothing bar your referrence number. But you don't need your referrence number as according to UKBA you shouldn't even contact them within 6 months from the date of sending out your application.
You have a Post Office slip as a proof the letter has been delivered and, more important, the payment has been already processed and you should have relevant line on your bank statement.
Mine is showing: CARD PAYMENT TO NATIONALITY DIRECTORAT
I know, it is a very stressfull experience and that's why we all panic when we really shouldn't.

Well, as everyone else seems to receive the letter, and you didn't, I would call to know what's going on.
Take the chance now as it's 9am and the lines are not yet busy!

Call the same number again, but chose the last option( over six months) as this is the only way to get through to the operator.

I think you should be OK even if the acknowlege letter was lost. But you really need to get the reference number for later contact.

good luck!

Congrat Iyanu. Just a quick query, did it take your application almost a month to get to the HO? Or is it a case of typo error?
