that's quite a statement
you don't know the internal procedures so how can you say the above?
every case is different - you can't compare them at all
if 2 colleagues apply on the same date it doesn't mean they will be accepted on the same day even if dealt by the very same case worker

maybe people from "unfriendly to UK" or unstable countries are checked more thoroughly (am only speculating here)
maybe people who move around a lot are checked more thoroughly than those who live in their own houses for years?
maybe people who have kids at school are considered more settled as they do not usually move that often so they are easier to check?
etc., etc.

if it was that easy as 5 years of living in here plus fee payment then it would be automated process with no human involved

Got a call from the council today informing us that they had received our approval from the home office. We have not yet received any approval letter , but have booked our ceremony. The council is going to post the invitation letter today.

Here is my timeline -
NCS or Postal - NCS Bracknell
Date of submission - 05 January 2011
Date received by HO - 06 January 2011
Criteria - 5 years WP + 1 year ILR
Date of debit card deduction - 10 January
Date of receipt of acknowledgement - 15 January
Approval letter arrived - not yet
Ceremony booked - 21 February (although an earlier date 7 february was available)

This forum has been very informative.

Thank you all.

And I know if some case worker had few application
And some other case worker had the same number
Of work load . They both don't follow the same
Way if granted application
For example some case worker are lazy and some are not
Smpile as that. And that what I thinks
. Any way wish every one very good luck

Teacup, how could you book ceremony without approval letter? My local council wouldn't alllow me to do it, although I was told that my decision has been made by UKBA.

Dgat, once UKBA makes a decision, they send out a notification to the local council as well. Our council called us up as soon as they got the courier from UKBA to tell us that our application has been approved. I guess they know that the approval letters will reach us eventually! I think it depends on each council really, whether they are ok go book the ceremony even if we have not got the approval letter as long as they have it.

Good luck with the letter, hope you get it soon.

Winter76,
Yes, my partner applied on the 11th January. You will find the timeline on this topic.

I called UKBA and they informed that they have sent the invitation letter to the ceremony on the 1st February. I haven't received it yet though. Probably tomorrow or Friday, and then next week the ceremony.

Officially? No.

But anybody can dial the number and the worst that can happen is that they will tell you to bugger off. More likely than not, I guess, they will at least tell you if a decision has been made.
Appreciate your reply,i will try my luck tomorrow, incase i do not receive approval letter.
