Hi All

I have seen that people who applied in January are getting their approvals. I applied on 22 Dec and have not yet got anything, except the letter of acknowledgement.

Does anyone of you have any idea that why it takes longer in some cases? what do they check that takes longer time?

Is there anyone who applied around 20 Dec 2010 and have not yet got the approval. Kindly advise.

You are not alone, I applied on 20 December 2010 and do not have the approval yet. Also I do have a clean immigration history and everything is on order on my record.

VERY FRUSTRATING WAIT.....

Are you self employed or director of a limited company? Checks on your tax status can take sometime.

Final Timeline for my partner:
NCS or Postal: Postal
Date of submission: 11/01/2011
Date reached HO: 12/01/2011
Date of Debit Card deduction: 20/01/2011
Date of receipt of acknowledgment letter: 26/01/2011 (Dated 20/01/2011)
Date UKBA made decision: 27/01/2011
Date of receipt of approval letter: 29/01/2011 (I sent a pre-paid special delivery envelope with the application)
Date of receipt of Ceremony Invitation letter: 04/02/2011 ( Dated 31/01/2011)
Date of ceremony: 07/01/2011 (Private)

I will submit my own application on Monday, after my partner gets his certificate. (So it will support my application as a civil partner of a British Citizen). The reason for this is that I don't need to hold ILR for 12 months then.

That may explain why you have not heard from the home office ...verification that your tax affairs are in order requires a written confirmation from the HMRC...which can take some time in certain cases...

One thing i do not understand, when you get ILR,they check from HMRC for the period, only then they get that. When we apply for the citizenship,i think they only check economic activity for the last year, that should not take long,if any application takes extra time to get processed, there should be other matters and not only economic activity, what say?

What's your nationality? Maybe it's different depending on the nationality? (unfortunately)

Long delay in the beginning - my application seemed to sit in the "unallocated" pile. Once it was processed and approved, I managed to sail through the rest. The passport process was a breeze! Good luck to the rest of you. Great forum and very helpful.

No I am not a self employed or director of a limited company ...

I think its more to do with nationality you belong to as well. I am 4m Pakistan and countries like pakistan etc probably need extra checks 4 security reasons.

Not sure on this but this seems true as few of my friends who applied recently also agree with me as their applications took 2-4 months to arrive as well.

no approval letter

Post by daudali » Mon Feb 07, 2011 11:17 am

On 26th January , UKBA informed me that We have made a decision on your application and you should get a letter in next 10 days. Today is 7th feburary (and its 11th day after decision was made) I still receive no letter from them yet.

I don't know what is taking so long for letter to arrive? Please anyone know why this would be ? please share your experience as i am getting quite frustrated now..

Call your local council and ask them if they have received your certificate (assuming it's been approved)...you might be in luck that they have received it. Someone posted earlier that they received invitation to ceremony before they got approval letter from Home Office. If you don't get any information I guess you will just have to wait till the letter comes thru your post.

It desn't depend on being pakistani.
I am a pakistani and applied on 5th Jan via postal and got my approval back on 29-01-2011 dated 27-01-2011.

I think it depends who is allocated your case.
Some caseworkers do have pending cases where as some are lazy.

Try contacting UKBA.
