Applying for citizenship-timing

Post by gidoc » Mon Feb 07, 2011 12:57 pm

Hi all,
Need some advise regarding timing of my Citizenship application

1.ILR granted on 6/4/10- after 5 yr stay as HSMP+Tier 1

Q: Am I eligible to apply on 5/04/11? or after 5/04

2.Have to be in UK exactly 5 yrs on the day UKBA receives my application

I plan to submit it to NCS on 5/04 OR 6/04

Q.I was away from UK on 13/04 for 10 days. Am I leaving enough time, as my form should be with UK on or before 12/04. Or do they take the date they deduct fees?

Please advise.

best regards

Your application must be received by UKBA on/after 06-Apr-11 and before 14-Apr-11 (if 13-Apr-06 is the date you boarded the flight out of UK).

Schedule NCS appointment accordingly.

Thanks Sush
Does that mean I can schedule NCS appointment even earlier than 6th April, perhaps on 4th or 5th, which leaves more than a week for it to reach UKBA.
Best regards

Each council will be different but Ealing NCS do a next day special delivery and you can't travel for next 5 days from the date you applied on NCS

Can I just clarify again:
5 Yr stay 6/4/2006 to 5/4/2011
1 yr stay after ILR 6/04/2010 to 5/04/2011
Am I not ok if UKBA gets my Citizenship application on 5/04/2011?

I may beat the fee increase as well!
Will I pay higher fee if I submit my application to NCS ON 4/4/11?

Thanks

No, you are not OK - it is the last day of your 5th year. So if they will receive your application on that day, it will be automatically refused.

You are trying to save £56, but you will lose £800+

Hi everybody, just a similar question – I’ve arrived to the UK on 1st of April 2006 – can I apply for naturalization on the 1st of April 2011? It is Friday and even with next day delivery HO will not officially receive application till Monday ie 4th of April. What do you think – safe or not safe? :?
