census form question

Post by rogerroger » Sun Mar 20, 2011 6:33 pm

Hello,

i have received the census form for 2011 which needs to be filled by 27/03/11.

I have 2 relations (studying) staying with me in my house, they are just staying and not paying guests are anything like that. They will be returning to their native countries at the end of their 1 year course

Do i need to list them on the survey? did i need to declare them to the local council?

thanks

I don't think you need to.
You own the property, so anyone who has your permission can stay in the property for as long as you permission lasts.

yea if you have any body living you have to tell your council. They might put your council tax up. but if they are student you can get discount. Speak to your council.

KDS, council tax is not dependant on the number of the people living in the property but on the value of the property!

Are you claiming single person's council tax discount?

Are you receiving rent from the lodgers?

Are you receiving any benefits?

Are they studying full time?

If it's your own house, it's up to you who you have living there...but you must declare them on the census.

as greenie correctly pointed out there if you are own your own you get a discount so the number does matter but in this case more than one person so does not matter!!
