Nationality and Indian passport

Hi Guys
I am planning to apply for my nationality in the next couple of months. I have postponed it for more than two years now, hoping that Indian Govt will approve dual citizenship. I think it is still not finalized.

If I apply for nationality and when it comes through, If I decide not to apply for British passport just now, do I still have to surrender my indian passport or can I have it till I get British passport?. Not a urgent question. Just curious what the law says.
