I suppose they are busy processing the March applications now, everyone who applied in March should hear very soon I guess.

Just something strange with Royalmail - just out of curiousity I used to check the royalmail tracking everyday to see if my return special delivery envelope has been posted. I did the same yesterday, but it showed no information. However it arrived this morning ! I wonder why it didnt show that my package was in transit when I checked yesterday.
What time you checked last night. Royal mail update the system very late in the night. For my letter I saw it was in transit around 12:30 AM for next day delivery. Before that the usual 'come back later' message was displayed.
I checked at about 10 at night if I remember correctly, the tracking service was not showing any information then.

Hi tintin, I called my council yesterday, and they told me that I should have recieved the letter for invitation, then they reliesed that they sent it to the wrong address any way they booked me for the public cermony on 24th May

ferrarilondon, it may be a good idea to call your council as it seems that they had my certificate more than one week befor I recieved the HO approval, just give them a call asking for booking cermony and then they will ask you for HO reference, by this way you find out some more information

Good luck for all of you waiting

I just called up the HO and they said decision was made on 11/05 and should reach me within next 5-7 days.

Called up council to check whether they have received anything but they need a different reference number than the one printed on the acknowledgement letter, will probably have to wait for the invitation letter to come through I guess.

I'd applied via NCS Manchester, route HSMP, received acknowledgement dated 19/03.

People did you notice from Sonya24's post that she applied on 10th May and her card got debited on 12th Just in 2 days.

This shows that HO has come back to normal and may be they have dealt with the back log.

If only, oh, if only. I'll check my bank account as soon as I get home, there may be 'good' news (well, as good as the loss of £836 can ever get) ;)
Woop!

well well well...Looking at soniya's progress...seems like they are becoming efficent.

Or May be she was just too lucky that her evneloped got processed so quickly!

I personally beleive time span is about 2 to 3 months! or may be just 2 months (being optimistic)

[dsk]

looks like simpler cases are processed faster. like you are in job and have p60 for the last 1 year and have employer reference letter.

however, if u r self employed etc... home needs to go and cross check with tax deptt... that can easily add another month.

it seems there are no algorithms for how quick it would be, it seems they're doing their job well and dealing with each cases ( or grouped similar) individually rather than assuming it would take 3 months you never know. well judging by some of the applications on here...having said that tho, there's no doubt there are some backlogs.

Thanks Model, 7omi, rightmove

I think you might be right, we were self employed and were claiming working tax credit. Our benefits were stopped and were asked to send our passports, invoices/receipts etc after we applied for citizenship. However the business was very new and tax return was not due upon us!!. We have send necessary paperwork to HMRC + HO letter that our passports are not with us. May be its delayed because of this?

Also I am Indian my wife is pakistani ! do you think this could be a reason?

Everything is legitimate but still I get worried quickly!!
hummmmmmmm!

Your nationality should never be a barrier or neither should your application process be biased by your nationalities. All i can say is if paperwork or anything to do with having to chase series of other departments for verification then it would affect the time taken. but don't worry yourself, if they need more info they have your contact details.
