@sid79 according to your previous post the case worker picked up your case on 28th April and made decision yesterday, this shows they dont always make decisions straight away like some people think that as soon as case worker pick up the case they make decision within couple of days. ( well they have done before ) so unpredictable

This is my timeline so far:

Criteria :: WP, HSMP, Tier 1 + 1 year ILR
Type :: NCS Epping
Date of submission :: 21/03/2011
Date application received by UKBA :: 22/03/2011
Date of debit of credit card :: 25/03/2011
Date of receipt of acknowledgement :: 30/03/2011 (dated 25/03/2011)
Date of Approval :: 18/05/2011
Date of receipt of approval :: Pending
Date of ceremony :: Pending
Date of Passport Appointment :: Pending
Date of Passport Receipt :: Pending

I have still not received my approval letter. I have checked with the council and they confirmed that they were expecting to receive the certificate tomorrow (25/05/2011).

What I would like to know from those who have been through it -

When you go to do the ceremony, do you need to take the HO letter with you?

(i.e. can I arrange the ceremony in the absence of a physical copy of the approval letter?)

My council appear to be doing 1 ceremony per month, at least this is true for June it seems.

Thanks!

@Mozart, Who informed you about the approval letter? did HO confirm that it was approved or they said the decision was made?

Hey Ferrari

The HO did not inform me that it was approved. When I called, they simply said that a decision had been made. I optimistically assumed that it was approved! However, my assumption has effectively been validated by my call to the council. The council confirmed (from a list they have) that my certificate would be arriving tomorrow. If the application had not been approved then the council would not be getting a certificate. (Another assumption!)

The problem I have is that I would like to go ahead and do the ceremony (as the council has the certificate), but I am not sure I can do this unless I actually have the approval letter in my possession. Hence the question about whether I need to take the letter to the ceremony with me.

HO

Post by bierebaron » Tue May 24, 2011 2:38 pm

Just got off the phone with the HO a few minutes ago and to my surprise I spoke to a mate of mine from back in my high school days who works for the HO now. (What are the odds) I hope this information will give you guys a bit of hope.

Apparently they are planning to send out a lot of letters (no sure if they are approvals or acknowledgements) next week after the bank holiday. Those who made any application in March should be receiving letters through this week or next week but apparently they have sped up their processing times.

I made my application last week of April so hopefully I should be expecting something mid-end June. But I hope those who applied earlier than me receive your good news sooner.

The long wait will definitely make the approval sweeter.

Once your local council receives your Citizenship Certificate they will then send you a letter inviting you to attend a citizenship ceremony.

When they send you this letter they will tell you if you need to bring anything with you.

I am going out of the Uk, last week of June. I rang home office today. Was told application registered on 29/03/11 but not been allocated to case worker, everything is going on time and will be dealt with within 6 months(ha ha, familiar!)
When asked about passports, a request has been put up for them to be returned in 10 working days. Told this won't usually delay the process unless case worker wants to see the passports for some reason.
