HSMP for IT Professional

Post by surcha » Tue Jul 18, 2006 12:52 pm

Hi,

I am a IT professional from India, planning to apply for HSMP- Under 28. I am able to score 115 points.

I would like to know the sucess rate, as IT itself is not in the shortage skills list.

Also can anyone give an format of the experience letter specific to IT industry

Thanks

Interesting to know how you score 115 points
I believe with this kind of achievement you must be a Noble price winner or tke like. Probably you are.

Other people are strugling to get 65 points, did you know that ?

Some points seems to be easy to get but actually not. Such as senior working experience, achievement. You may refer to their guideline to get the details. For example, senior should be a level like general manager or so, project manager or department manager is not a senior level. Achievement means that you have made a breakthrough in industry, like great invention or patent, i don't think normal ones could be acknoledged and papers or book publication is definitely not enough. I hardly see some one actually get score from these two parts. Although they think they can.

Good luck.

115 points!! Loll!

Yes you would be some noble prize holder and in which case you should probably just call a press conference and announce you want to stay in UK.

Point calculation can be devastatingly deceptive and you should be very careful in calculating points. Take the most conservative estimates and then calculate. Reference letters run often upto 3 pages

Thanks a lot guys. Looks like you all are jealous... Dont wonder any more, Here is the break up. Be informed I am under 28

Graduation: 15
Earning Power: 35 (827875/INR for the last t12 months)
Work Experience: 50
Total of 8 years experience in IT,
5 years as Software Engineer (Graduate Level)
2 years as Software Architect (Specialist Level )
1 year as Senior Manager - Projects (Senior Level)
Spouse category: 10
Bonus for under 28: 5

Total: 115 Points.

I have arrived at this number after considering the case worker guidellines

and why I was asking for an experience letter format is, no employer gives it in the way HSMP demands, so in this case before approaching the employer I wanted to get an idea of what I want to ask for, that's it.

Guys you see I am not a Noble Prize winner. Never under estimate someone... if it had looked skeptical you could have asked me for details.
I have no reason to exaggerate.
I didn't meant to offend you guys, please take this as a kind note.

Anyways thanks a lot for your help.

Hi Mate
I am not envy to you.

Just curious because up to now there is noone ever claim 115 points, Neither for the person who got PhD degree (Bachelor degree claim 115 ????). But it is absolutely fine if you could get it.

Points calculator is very useful if you do not cheat yourself and/or if you read this forum carefully to get necessary knowledge.

I challenge you to bet if you could get 115 points. Bet must be at least 5000 pounds. We could use Work permit.com as a third party to deposit our money (acting as escrow agent). Any comment ???

I agree with you totally and after reading this elaborate note, I feel that you really are heading towards that points total. I just read everybody’s comments and I felt that nobody was intentionally trying to challenge you but forget it, but I really think you stand a strong chance to get through your application.
On the questions which you had, the work experience letter should say that you have been employed from such and such date and should state your day to day activities and most importantly it should state anywhere in the letter that this is a Graduate Level job…remember this is very important…
In addition, I would suggest you to provide as much as paper work as you can. Age –proof, Educational details and also marriage proof and partner points should be backed by adequate paper work….i have a personal experience for all this as I was rejected twice before finally getting through….

I don't think we are jealous at you because you claimed that you can get 115. It's just a kind reminder that the guidelines should be carefully read through before you prepare for the application. Especially for the working experience and earning power. As far as I know, these two parts can most possibly lose points if you don't prepare enough evidence.

Good luck.

I didn't really mean that word "jealous", but was put off by negative comments by people which appeared funny.

Thanks for the responses anyways.
