It depends on what month in 2008 and country in which you made an application for/obtained your HSMP letter.

More details can be found in Annex B of the Tier 1 (General) Policy Guidance.

It depends on the date of application for HSMP approval, not the date of HSMP approval.
Life isn't fair, but you can be!

You will get same number of points in age category which you claimed and received in your initial application.

If you were below 28 years old at the time of posting your application then you will get 20 points and if below 30 years old then 10 points. Hope this clarifies the situation.

If you do not know when your application was received by Home Office then contact them in writing by giving your full details and they will let you know.

According to guidance, under annex B,

'Applications for highly skilled migrant
programme (HSMP) approval letters
• In-country applications for HSMP
approval letters made on or before 28
February 2008 will be processed
'

So this applies to you, which means the following excerpt from the guidance (under annex B) will also apply to you..

'Arrangements have been put in place for
individuals who:
• On 29 February 2008 have already
applied for/obtained an HSMP approval
letter
but have yet to apply for leave to
remain as a highly skilled migrant;
Applicants who have a valid HSMP approval
letter and apply under these arrangements
will not need to complete the ‘Attributes’
or the English language sections of the
application form. Points for attributes and
for English language will be awarded
automatically on the strength of the valid
HSMP approval letter.

Such applicants must however continue to
complete all other appropriate sections of
the relevant application form, including the
Maintenance (funds) section of the form.
Such applicants will be charged a reduced
Tier 1 (General) fee for their application.
'

So you don't need to bother about the 'Attributes' or English language sections. Your HSMP approval letter should sort that out and you'll be automatically awarded points. Hope this makes things clearer.
