looking at the timelines and posts here...more than half of the applicants in May got their results so definitely HO follows different procedure for certain applications that is for sure, otherwise there is no reason for delay. As in the previous months also there were certain applications which looked very simple cases but took long time..so may be HO selects some random applications for this long procedure who knows or just they dont give results for some applications just to show that they do thorough checks and simply dont give away citizenship

I think you need to put it all in perspective. A couple of years ago, naturalisation took at least 6 months and you could not get any information about your application before 6 months (the HO hasn't changed the recorded message on their telephone service since) so 2-3 months is a huge improvement (although it also costs now double).
Just to make it clear - I'm not trying to defend the HO for being slow, and I understand that people are anxious to get results, just wanted to remind people it is not so bad nowadays.

I agree with you Jambo - in the final analysis, I'm sure we would all prefer a decision that takes time but is an approval as against a quick decision that is a refusal. Lets just hang in there!

Jambo, cogunde I am not against the overall checks done and time taken by HO etc.

The only thing i cant understand is that when HO says processing hasnt started for the application which has been made about 10 weeks ago but the decision are coming through for applications made 4 weeks ago.

I can understand there will be different time taken to make decision for differernt application .If you dont tocuh the application at all even after 10 weeks is the most frustrating thing.

that's completly true rnr79, its just frustrating and very very frustrating indeed now its 11 weeks and whenever i call its the same answer "waiting allocation" and i know now in advance what they will say, but i am still calling ..i am still hoping and as we can see some applicants had their decision in less than 6 weeks its mean that the process come back to its normal but whats wrong with other applications everyone is saying its straight forward and mine as well so why not being touched yet

My application was received on the 10th May. This makes it 10 weeks today.
I called - still going through initial checks.

I am desperate. I have had to cancel all holiday plans for the summer, and moved them to September, now it looks unlikely that I can go on holiday in September either, considering the extra time I must allow to get the passport. I can't drive my car (too paranoid of taking a wrong turn and receiving a FPN), can't do anything.

It's so frustrating. I don't even know what's going on - is it just in a queue? Awaiting a reply from some government office or the police? Lost in a filing cabinet? How much longer? It's discouraging to see May and even June applicants getting their approvals (I AM happy for them though) while I am left to wonder whether my case is going to be one of the 6 months ones for reason that I will never even know. Or even refusal!

It's terrible...

completely agree daniash this makes life so difficult that you are always conscious that you may make some mistake somewhere...get application rejected and loose the money....

I am more worried these days only because one of my friend argued about the fine for throwing the chewing gum on the high street and so he was taken into court and this has affected his application.

But one thing i noticed recently it makes you more anxious by reading posts here people getting decision so I think i am not going to read this forum at all for few more weeks. I was ok until two weeks ago, only when i read the posts where decision were coiming thorugh for June application i started worrying.

Please dont get me wrong i am happy for all those but can not stop worrying about myself

That way i might be back to my normal life and users on this forum dont have to read my whinging

Hello Guys,

I applied on 6th of june- money debited 15th june- called last friday for an update, was told still going through initial checks-I understand they check with HMRC for any outstanding tax etc.I am self employed and my tax is due by 31st of july so have not paid it yet(trying to hang on to money until very last moment lol)..will this make them not make the decision until I make the payment of my tax which is due by 31st july-I am going to pay it tonite anyway-but anythoughts on this? cheers-

Honestly I don't think this has any direct connection with your application. (Future Tax) If your tax is due end of july - follow your normal procedure and may be wait till end of this week and call HO again but this time try and not give your ref num (tell them you don't have it).

Once it gets to a case worker then you should get a decision pretty soon.

I have a similar experience..After I made the payment over the phone..2 days later I made a call to check the status..

The status that time was " under consideration and decision to be taken"

then called again a week later status was " awaiting to be allocated to a case worker"

called 2 more times since then and still status was " awaiting to be allocated to a case worker"

Not sure what they do with the application
