Two red "Something for you" cards were waiting for us after getting home from a weekend away, one card for my wife and one for me. As we aren't expecting any deliveries and it was Special Delivery/Letter/Signature required, we can only assume it is our passports and documents being returned to us. Unfortunately we won't be able to collect the letters from the local delivery office until Wednesday, but this brings great hope!

I will update you all on Wednesday with full details.

But for now, a tentative timeline update:
EEA2 App Sent: 10th June 2011 (Friday)
UKBA Receives App: 13th June 2011 (Monday)
COA Received: 9th July 2011 (Saturday)
Resident Card Received: 24th September 2011 (Saturday)

TOTAL TIME FROM DATE SENT TO DATE RECEIVED:

Lads

Quick questions,

I am considering applying for EEA2 visa for my wife, but I need to travel urgently. When do they send all the documents back , is with the COA or once the RC is issued?

I understand if you ask for the passports early the process stops altogether!

Any help much appreciated

I respond with bad news. The "Something for you" cards were not notice of arrival of passports but arrival of NFL tickets my wife and I purchased for the Chicago Bears vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers game at Wembley. So dreadfully and with great let down, I am still in the waiting game with mostly everyone else.

When something positive does occur, I will leave an update. Until then, best of luck to those waiting.

they wont send you back your document with CoA if you didn´t ask them but you can ask for your passport or any other document after you reveived your CoA usualy it take 4 week but i can be before or after the max it can take is 7 weeks to receive CoA.

it also it take time to send you any document you ask for that it´s depend on Home office. if you fax them and tel them that it´s very urgent they could send it back in 3 days

after you receive your CoA and you retrived your passport dosen´t stop your application maybe you do not need to send it back to them if the applicant is your wife but they still can ask you about it if they need it (it=passport).

i hope i answered your question
feel free to ask about anything else you don´t undrestand.

good luck

Apologies to anyone who was expecting their RC (not the first time it happened, last time someone got some pillows or something), despite what some people are saying, don't book any holidays expecting to receive your RC just because you were lucky enough to get your COA early... It's the exception, not the rule. In fact, I'm surprised none of the senior members corrected any of the assumptions being made.

Firstly, EEA1 does give an RC (Registration Certificate) to EU citizens.

Second, once the COA has been issued, requesting your passport will not negatively affect your application nor will it "take it back to the beginning".

Third, if you haven't got your COA after 4 weeks you should call, but 5 weeks is very common too.

Fourth, even if you request your passport to be returned I would not advise you to make any travel plans until you see your passports....

I requested mine three weeks ago and have put in a second formal request and all they are willing to say is "not been dispatched yet" I'm at the stage of putting in a complaint.

I don't want anyone to lose hope, but I also don't want to see anyone promising anyone that they'll get their RC in the next couple of weeks just cos that's usually what happens.

Keep hope, but also keep your feet on the ground.

*Edited: I meant COA not RC in 3rd point :) *

They certainly have, in this thread and in others. They probably just grew tired of watching the 100th rerun of the same show over and over again. Should you ever have the time to then just read through the whole of this thread and see for yourself.

I don't think everyone is interested in obtaining permanent residence and most here still have a long way to go there.

Please, don't shout.

Don't get me wrong, I know on the whole you guys are on the ball and I know generally don't let things like that stand. It's just that I've been off the forum for a week and it just looked like the gurus and other senior members just gave up and let anyone just speculate and the fact people like you correct misinterpretations and rumours was the main reason I signed up. I knew there were people here that knew their stuff and wouldn't let cowboys take over (No offence to any actual cowboys out there)

As for permanent residence... not really bothered to be honest, it'd be nice but it's not the be all and end all.

Good luck to anyone still waiting, we'll get through this together.

Hi everyone,

I have been reading this thread for about a week now and I think it is only fair to share my own experience as well.

Other people who read, please share your experience and do keep the timing up to date.

16/07/11 - EEA1 and EEA2 sent to EEA2 postal address
18/07/11 - Royal Mail confirm delivery
10/08/11 - COA and EEA1 both approved
02/09/11 - COA and EEA1 stuff received in 1 pack
XX/XX/XX - Awaiting RC.

It looks like HO are issuing RC to people applying up to Mid of June. So hopefully by Mid November I should be smilling by God's grace!!.
