sonya24 wrote:Hi all i have got a question regarding my british passport.

I applied for my british passport yesterday but i think i have made a mistake. My countersignTory is a trainee solicitor at a well known firm but she forgot to fill in the section where it says that how do you know the applicant she is my friend and known me for 2 years and her solicitor firm is also dealing with my brothers case she even gave the address for where she works but while checking the application form the lady at the post office asked me that how do you know her i didnt get her question and then she said oh shes a solicitor so you are her client i said yes but shes my friend aswell but she wrote client now i am worried because my friend has just started working as a trainee after finishing her degree so she still doesnt deal with the solicitor firm's clients.do you think that would be a problem for me. I called ips to find out if a trainee solicitor can sign my form and they said yes but i am really worried about the client part.please help
Hi Sonya24...I think there is nothing to worry about really...if they need more information about how you know the counter signatory they will ask the details or just in case (low probability) they will ask other other person to counter sign...you wont loose the application fee or your application wont be rejected....the worst thing can happen is just few days delay....passport process is not painful as in citizinship so dont worry much about this
agreed with rnr79....

Congrats to all successful applicants.

It took 3 weeks and 1 day to get the fees debited. Long queue really.

Now I am in the queue of waiting for the approval. Finger cross.

Thank you, Miu - you're right, it is the best Christmas present definitely this year. It took 4 days exactly from my interview to be delivered. The passport was actually printed the day after my interview, I have checked it online, via email application update - have you tried this service? It usually tells you when the invitation letter was posted. I wish you get yours soon, maybe tomorrow, fingers crossed, yeah?

The processing timelines have dramatic changed for the worse this year! My family (spouse and kids) applied (postal) on 29/01/2011 and received by UKBA on 31/01/2011. Fees were debit on 06/02/2011. Approval was given on 15/02/2011 and received it two days later.... We were delighted beyond words that it took only 2weeks 2 days for approval to be given as we were resigned for a long wait. :D

I applied via postal on 14/11/2011 and received by UKBA on 15/11/2011.
Fees were debited 3 weeks 1 day later (06/12/2011). I am awaiting approval but reading from numerous posts here, patience is a virtue that I will have to acquire fast .... :(

Burtsbee, yeah I got some news. I did the online enquiry thing a few days ago and to my surprise they answered that my countersignatory didnt pick up the phone so they suspended my application and sent me a new application to sign by a different countersignatory. I called them and found out that i dont have to pay anything again, and I can send new application directly to the caseworker so that they can resume my application straight away. I didnt wait for the postal letter, so I just did a new application with a new, very solid countersignatory and sent it out again!!! Should be fine now! :)

Ex-immigrant, great news on the next-day passport!!! :)

What a horror! As if a person can answer his phone 24/7! My countersignatory leaves for holidays this Thursday till 3 Jan. So if she can't answer the phone i'll have to look for a new countersignatory:(
Miu, did you wait 2 weeks (since your application date) before you contacted IPS or you get in touch with them sooner?
I applied on 9th Dec and I don't know what I should do now.

Miu, I am shocked to hear that, how unfortunate! I wonder how many times they tried ringing your countersignatory. But everything should be quick now, shouldn't it? Best of luck!

haha, dont be upset!!! Its all good!!! stuff happens!! The hardest waiting part is over!
I just have to wait couple days longer, thats it!
Fev, I applied on Nov,29th. Tried calling on Dec,12th but they said they had no information on the system. Did the online tracking on Dec,15th. They answered in half an hour! In the email letter they confirmed that they received the application on Dec,7th. You do the math :)
Dont get panicky, they only contact a small number of people!! Even if u get as "lucky" as me, you'll just have to send them another application, no big deal here!
I wish ALL applicants waiting for the citizenship approval get it before xmas!! Everyone stay positive!

I finally got my citizenship approved on 7th Dec 2011. I had a speeding SP30 court conviction with a fine of £165. I applied for next day private ceremony on 8th December and got my certificate.

Applied for passport on 12th December 2011 via postal service. Fees were debited for passport on 13th December. Awaiting passport approval and issue.....

Tx to this board for guidance...I am happy to answer any questions regarding citizenship or anything else.....

Congratulations salmanakram!

I am filling the naturalisation form, and I have a similar speeding conviction in court, I wonder whether you just mentioned it in the application section 3.6 (convictions), or you added any explanation in section 6.7 special circumstances, or in a cover letter.

Thanks in advance.
