Post by Nemo2011 » Thu Jan 12, 2012 4:59 pm

Applied for ilr seto ( JR ) on the 30/08/2011 got pp on 10/1/12
It's a long wait!! If u need your pp soon or got travel plans in the next six months then do not apply thro post . apply in person it is quicker and less stressful!!!!

agreed! If only I had been inclined to check out this forum before I applied! I Would definitely advise people to spend the extra and get it done in person, this wait is brutal!

We never wanted to use Postal service at all, we tried to go for PEO appointment but on that fateful day, it seems they didnt grit the roads a few miles from where we stay, got stuck in traffic for 3-4 hours, what was meant to be an hour's journey turned into a nightmare, we turned up 4 hours late for the appointment & they didn't see us. We had no choice but to apply by post & by God's grace we are waiting patiently. Good luck to every one, all will be well.

Forcing people to wait for 6 months - is this legal?

Post by tushars » Fri Jan 13, 2012 1:46 pm

I am starting to wonder if some one can actually question the Home Office on the processing time for 6 months wait. I guess it is purely against 'Freedom of Movement' to hold some ones passport for upto 6 months.

Has there been any petitions made for this issue? Any lawyers in the group have any suggestions

Website clearly states processing time of 95% in 6 months. Also adds not to make any urgent plans to travel. I don't think petition will make any difference. Why would anyone waste his time and support the petition.

You dare put a complaint. And once you get your passport back you get on with life, don't you?

I, along with so many waiting members were on the impression turn around time was 10-12 weeks /(as it was in September 2011 when I applied) but looks like we have not been helped by christmas breaks and toughening of immigration rules as it is always on the news. I guess the UKBA are just doing their job. I suspect more people are now applying by post than in the past as it comes out to be cheaper esp if you have few dependants. As you may be aware it was free for dependents till couple of years ago.

I sincerely hope our list will put people off by applying by post.

Appreciate your view. But can Home Office have a process that says you cannot travel anywhere for 6 months or pay more money.
They should probably allow application 6 months earlier to 5 years period and as to provide passport only once the decisions is taken (Like old HSMP).

Any ways, sorry, probably just my frustration working up my fingers..

thanks again

I have thought about that very same issue- seems to only make sense. I can imagine there is not much support for this issue outside of the people going through it. I think we just need to sit and take it.

Just about to finish week 18. :(

AT LONG LAST!!!

Post by TEDDY61 » Fri Jan 13, 2012 5:49 pm

Hi Folks,

Got our ILR today. Below is my timeline:

Applied on 19/o8/11
Acknowledgement on 24/08/11
ILR approved 10/01/12
Received 13/01/12 (exactly after 21 weeks after)

I will like to thank members of this forum for their contributions and postings which saved me from going round the bend during this unbelievably longest 21 weeks in my life. My advice is simple, if u can afford it, go through the PEO route. This long wait is only for the brave! I wish you all goodluck as the post man knocks on your door soon.

Do you think that ILR applications are processed at two diffrence places? becouse I can see, some body appling on 18/08/2011 got approval on 09/12/2011 and some body applying on 19/08/2011 got approval on 06/01/2012 and who appliled on 30/08/2011 got approval on 10/1/2012.

There is no uniformity of the approval by applied dates.....they going back and forth. Any reason why?
