Asking the passport back should not delay the application and might in some cases speed up the application. Don't worry about the envelope. In many cases the HO just ignore those and use their own.

I suggest you write an email to Liverpool on the first week of May and follow up with a phone call a few days later to verify the request has been received.

I would highlight in the email (big font, red colour, bold whatever) that your RC is a standalone one and it needs to be returned together with your passport. I would also say in the email you need to receive the documents by 21/05 as you need to apply for a visa.

10/04/2012: sent enquiry to SOLVIT explaining urgency of situation
15/04/2012: Response received from SOLVIT, stating that through treaty rights I am allowed to travel and that if I have any issues with boarding a plane or entering the UK that I need to show my CoA with us much supporting info as possible and they also provided a number that I could ring if I have any difficulty with either of the latter.

Still waiting to hear from the border agency.

Does anyone know if the home office can issue the PR in a separate a4 paper.

My country has decided to invalidate all non biometric passport in short notice from 1 March. I found out only after the documents were with HO. documents were sent in January.Embassy in Uk doesnt issue biometric passports either

I need to travel for work but return of passport wont mean anything as residence has expired.

I will email them as havent been able to catch them on the phone but not sure if this will complicate the process.

Thnx guys

It won't matter. Your PR can still be stamped on the old passport. You can then apply in your home country for the new passport and have your PR moved to the new one, or travel with both, like I do. No need to contact them. It might confuse them, which may cause further delay.

Hi guys! Submitted EEA2 application for my non-EU daughters and for my huband to have his RC stamp transferred into his new passport on 20/03/2012. No news so far. Just wanted to ask what email address do people here use to communicate with the EU team at UKBA??? Tried to read through the pages here but all I could find was their phone number.

01/05/2012: called BA in the hope to get an update but as I have not passed the 6 months mark, they wont even consider taking my details to look into it.

It seems that the application process has slowed down a lot? How many people are still waiting from last year and January?

Hi guys, I need your advice,
I need to request our passports back for holiday on 27/06/2012 but as they clearly saying do not make any travel with in 6 months, what do I have to say to them,
And also my RC visa is still on A4 paper not on passport so I need both back.
Will this affect or slow down my case process?
Many thanks guys,

Hi Masum, you may remember I applied at the same date as you. I called to ask where my COA was, as just like you I never received one, in the beginning of April, few days later they send the PRC.

Finally I got my passport with Permanent Residence!!!

Here is my story

Applied EEA3&EEA4 on 16 November
Received COA on 16 December
Requested EEA passport back on 1 March
Received all documents (except my non EEA passport) with refusal letters on 3 March
Submitted further application on 9 March
Called HO to chase COA on 10 April
26 April - second refusal letter (non-EEA passport retained)
27 Apill - sent compaint to all possible emails, faxes, UKBA addresses
30 April - submitted further application
3 May - received a letter with apologies for mishadling my case from HO
4 May - Received my passport back with PR

My advice to everyone: if you are not happy with the service - COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN and COMPLAIN

I'm going to request compensation from HO for mishandling my case on 2 ocassions

Congratulations. As regards complaining, not many people will have a cause to complain within the first 6 months. So, in a way, you are "lucky" they mishandled your case. Most people dont even hear from the UKBA so nothing to complain about.

What was the reason for the refusal and when was the EEA3 application processed? Same time as non-eea or earlier? How much compensation do you expect and what were your actual losses? Thanks

This particular individual does have cause for complaint.

I had ordered & received "EMPLOYMENT HISTORY" from Inland Revenue (08455191512) for our EEA3 & EEA4 applications, which we will submit next week. My wife also has contracts, and letters confirming her employment, but not all payslips and P60s. Regarding the treaty rights, would the "EMPLOYMENT HISTORY" suffice, or will HO request more "proof"?

I posted my application for eea3 and eea4 on the 17/03/2012, received by HO on the 19/03/2012. I have not receive my COA. I have sent them more than 4 emails and 2 letters requesting for COA, guess what? No response. I have called them so many times, it is always same story, my case has not been allocated to a case worker. even yesterday when I called, it was the same story. I have now given up. the worse thing is that the lady answering the call for HO is a very rude person, am even planning to talk to her supervisor if she is rude to me again.
