My MP's office actually got back to me today with the response from the UKBA being that my wife's visa has still not been processed and when asked how soon it would be dealt with they wouldn't give an exact answer, just saying as soon as possible.

It was the reply I was expecting really, and I think i'll get the same answer (if any) to my letter.

@Elisha47. It might be worth you contacting your local MP too. I'ts straightforward enough and mine got back to me with an answer within a day. Although it wasn't the answer I was hoping for..

RE the changes for DLR. I'm pretty sure anyone who applied before the changes came into place won't be affected by that so I wouldn't worry too much about it. I'm far from an expert but I don't think there are any "rules" regarding DLR as it is at the caseworkers discretion, so out of the rules by it's nature. I think the changes are for how you actually apply for DLR, so that wouldn't affect applications before 9 July. Also RE biometrics, i'm sure I read that they only came into force in Jan or Feb 2012 (I can't remember where I read that though, and I can't find it again!) so applications before these dates wouldn't need to go for biometrics. I have to stress though I am no expert and these are the way i'm seeing things from the information i'm trying to gather, i'm sure there are people who know/explain it better. Best of luck

The easiest way way to contact your MP.

Go to www.writetothem.com and type in your postcode then you will be directed to your local MP where you can then write out an email for them.

Just explain your situation and ask if they could look into the matter for you.

I got a reply the same day asking for my wife's details and reference number from the acknowledgement letter, and also my wife had to then email them with her permission that they could look into it. Then they contacted the UKBA the next day, and got back to me with their news.

Good news to share. I have just received an email from my solicitor today saying i have been approved a 30 months Discretionary Leave to Remain . Its 11 months of waiting from the time i lodge my documents but patience is a virtue as they say. And i got it on my daughter's 1st birthday. Hope some of you will also share good news soon.
