You should certainly have had an acknowledgement at least. When we asked our MP (who is also a senior government minister) to take up the case he got a reply from the UKBA saying that it would be unfair to jump the queue. However, if you look at the list maintained by ShortWait you will see that the time taken is fairly random, and presumably depends on which caseworker your application is allocated to. We also used the Checking Service, but it obviously doesn't reduce waiting times. It only takes away the risk of delay due to filling in the form incorrectly or not having the correct documentation. It is certainly disgusting that they use second class post. That is just an insult when they charge so much in application fees.

I really don't think that Teresa May cares. If she had any integrity she would have resigned ages ago for presiding over so many foul-ups at the UKBA. She only cares about being seen to take a tough line over immigration, and they can't even do that properly because they are so inefficient.
Ant27 wrote:We applied on 21st Feb SET (M) and have heard nothing. Should I be worried? Do they deal with applications on a first come, first served basis? We used the Settlement Checking Service too as I thought this would reduce waiting times. Are you seriously telling me they post the passports back second class? That is disgusting. Teresa May is getting a very long letter from me at the end of all of this.

One of my friends tells me he didn't get his ILR stamped from the day his last visa expired. Instead his passport stamped from May 2012.

He applied in Dec 2011 and visa ran out in Jan 2012.

Is this how you guys find it in your cases?

If so how far it is correct to do so - as you will have to wait another year (rather than say 6 months given they took 6 months to stamp it) to apply for Naturalisation?

Also you may notbe able to claim your Child benefit from the day 1 you are entitled to it - this is probably the only benefit kind of thing most of us are eligible...

I want to say more on this, but I'll stop here.
Your friend is right. Especially if you can claim child benefit pay extra and go to PEO as soon as you are eligible. You will be financially better off, avoid mental torture and be eligible for naturalisation 7 months earlier.

A Good news to share. I have got my ILR SET(O)

Post by palle » Mon Jun 04, 2012 1:42 pm

Hello Everyone,
Great news. Got my ILR on the 30th May. timeline as under:
SET(O) - me and my wife. TIER 1 and HSMP 5 years total
Applied on the 30th Dec
Visa dated 14th May
Passport received on 30th May

Thanks to the moderators and everyone who are supporting this blog. atleast we are getting some indication of when our application will be processed. How sad that people who are taking our money can't provide this simple service.

Anyways I wish all of you who are still waiting, get their passports with ILR soon

Yes, I started my new job on the 24th, before I got my ILR. I was able to secure bc my new employer was ok w the response from office as our curcumstances remain the same while visa is being processed. But tomorrow I will definitely take my passport to show them my case has been resolved.

Hope u get yours very soon!!!

As I've explained earlier, not all PEO's accept all sort of applications.

Especially if you are Self Employed and thinking of submitting to Glasgow PEO, just don't waste your time, money and effort. Go direct to Croydon.

But there wasn't anyone to tell me this, so I wasted my time money and effort and ended up posting my application as I couldn't secure an appointment at Croyden.

Money wasn't an object, just the right information. Never found in UKBA webiste.

ILR late application due to the unclear rules

Post by Kukushka » Thu Jun 07, 2012 12:07 pm

Hi everyone!
I booked an appointment for premium service to get my ILR done in one day so I can travel abroad. On the site it says "Do not apply more than 28 days before you visa expires !!!" So I did apply 21 days before. The first available appointment was 9 days after the end of my previous document!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I booked it thinking that I do everything right.
Few days before the appointment we called to ask some question and found out that I have overstayed my visa. After woman said to write covering letter explaining what have happened! It is not my fault that they do not have enough appointments.
So now my case is treated as POSTAL APPLICATION! I am waiting....
Is it just me who is the situation like this? Only good thing is that I pay less money for postal application...

Hi Kukushka,

I was in a similar situation where there were no appointments available at the Croydon PEO 28 days before my Limited Leave to Remain expired, so had the option of taking a day off work travelling to the Liverpool PEO, or sending in a postal application. In hindsight, the Liverpool PEO option, a day's lost pay, and £250 in return train fares probably would have been the less frustrating option.

Best of luck with your postal application.

On the UKBA website it clearly says that "you must post your application if you cannot find an inperson appointment before your leave to remain expires"

Spend some time reading this info Gents.

Hi Zainoor,

My time line is almost identical to yours (I applied 2 days before you) and I've heard nothing yet either. I had my Biometrics on the 30th March. So frustrated as we booked a holiday earlier this year and were suppose to leave last night - never ever thought it would take this long to get my freakin' visa& passport back. Called Immigration on Wednesday and they said it could take up to 6 months and call back at end of August if I haven't heard anything. Beyond frustrated right now. Will you let me know if you hear anything as our stats are almost identical!!!!

I have read everything and never found this sort of statement. What I found is this:
"Please do not send us your application more than 28 days before the end of your 2-year qualifying period. If you do, we may refuse your application and we will not refund the fee. However, you must apply before your current permission to remain in the UK ends."
I did fill the application form on-line and booked an appointment. And the woman over the phone said this is not your fault! Also they sent me a letter saying that do not bring anyone inside the public office with you . On the site it says that bring your partner!!!!!!! All I am trying to say is that there are no clear rules and it cause so many problems.
