Congratulations Manoj ......
I am still waiting for my invitation letter, which according to my findings will come from Home Office ??? as I have spoken with Council and they didn't receive my certificate yet and adviced me to contact Home Office or wait for the letter which contains personal info (like printed on certificate) and also states to contact your local authority and usually include phone number for local authority.
I will wait until Fri and then ring UKBA as my letter was issued on 1st June and it will be 2 weeks on Fri.

Please keep posting and update as I understand few other guys are going through same stage ..... Any update guys please!!

Regards.... Kam

Need help

Post by Kam348 » Thu Jun 14, 2012 6:17 pm

Hello everyone ...........

I need some advice as I am confused now ....

I have contacted the council but they didn't receive my certificate yet so how I will get the invitation.

Q: Who will write the invitation letter? council or UKBA.
Q: the letter which I have received dated 1st June is called 'Approval letter' or not? I received the letter that my application has been successful and I will receive the invitation letter soon OR contact UKBA if don't receive the invitation letter with in 2 weeks. In letter they said don't contact council yet!

Please share your experience.

Thanks

Hello kam

Good to hear that you have received you approval. You will receive your invitation from UKBA which will indicate the contact details of your council.if 2 weeks have been already passed since the date of the approval letter then call the home office to ask them for further copy of the invitation letter which may had been lost in the mail.

Regards

Go to your council under the pretext that you want to arrange a private ceremony...you will be surprised that your certificate will surface out of the blues...you may then opt for the group ceremony instead after confirming that...Good luck anyways!

Thanks Lumera.
I have spoken to both council and UKBA. Council has received my certificate and ceremony letter is in post and invitation letter was posted 4 days before as well. So all good for now.
Good luck to everyone who is still waiting!

I had citizenship ceremony in Sheffield today. I must say it was a pleasant ceremony and most of us were dressed up although there were a few who looked looked like they just woke up, put a jumper on and turned up. lol (guess each to their own). The ceremony it's self took about 30 minutes with getting info about the city and what being British is about then we said our names individually before doing the oath all together. We were then called forward to get our certificates with everyone clapping then photo opportunity with the mayor after. we were given two certificates, one from home office and another one from the council. Also given is a big envelope with info about the city, how to apply for passport, message from home secretary letter, nice pen and leather passport holder (must say this will be useful soon.). We were offered tea, drinks and biscuits, which was very kind of them.
Straight after I went to the post office to send my passport (thought I might as well get it over with. lol). I must say the check and send lady that attended to me did not give me much confidence in what she was doing. 1) I had not put the county on the form so she tried writing this then realised she could not spell Lincolnshire. I wrote her the spelling on a paper and she copied making a mistake on one of the letters then wrote the right one just on top (I so hope this will be OK as I will be annoyed if the form gets delayed cause of that) 2) she sealed the envelope and I had to ask her if pictures go in a different form, lol. she then had to open the envelope and put the pics inside after apologising of course. The lady was nice and all but for £8, I was left unsure of the whole process. I guess I will have to wait and see.
Good luck everyone and I just thought i should share my experience of the ceremony and passport application.

VK1979 QU0TE: Quick one - Did you receive all the suppporting documents along with approval letters?

Actually we had applied through NCS so all our documents were photocopied apart from the English language certificate. They dont send photo copied documents back and neither does the english language certificate.

Post by annpgeorge » Sat Jun 23, 2012 10:26 pm

I just noticed that I did not get back my Life in the UK pass cert. Should they have returned it?

thank you Zara and lumera. Not a good start to the weekend as my car got broken into while parked in front of my house - scary to think a stranger was within a meter of my window

No body gets their certificates back as HO keep them for the record. We were told this at NCS. Hope this help.
