@dadageer, don't worry too much, you should receive acknowledgement letter sometime next week, you will be ok.

I have applied for ILR for myself and my wife using SET (O) application form.

I completed 5 years on HSMP+Tier 1 (General).

So far here is the timeline:

Documents and application Sent: 13th July 2012
Application Received by UKBA: 16th July 2012

Fee still not taken, no acknowledgment letter.

Cheers mate! I need good words like these as God knows how long the whole process will take!

Hi guys! It's me again!

Ok so I've submitted in April and few days ago I got a letter in the post from UKBA. I thought it would be my documents but it was my application form sent back because I missed a part in the form. (slaps myself). They just requested to finish it and submit it back to them again with the prepaid envelopes provided.

SO should I be happy that they haven't rejected my application since I missed it out. Otherwise they would not have gone through all that trouble just to post the form back to me to complete. OR have they already looked at my application and everything is in progress but just need that missing part OR did it take them 3 months to open my application and only JUST notice that it wasn't complete? HAHA!

ILR Granted???

Post by Jase555 » Sat Jul 21, 2012 10:53 am

Hi,

Just registered on here but have been reading for some time.

Set M Visa application (spouse)
App sent: 17/3
Acknowledgement letter date: 21/3
Biometrics: Early April - date not known

Just received all paperwork / passports back today, there are no stamps in the passport, it states the BRP replaces these. There is a letter stating that biometric residents permit will arrive in the 10 working days and a quite ambiguous but standard letter, at the top it states

"These notes are for information purposes only and do not convey the grant of ILR" but beneath it states

"Your application for ILR in the UK has been approved.......".

Are we able to celebrate or do we need to wait for the BRP???

waiting since march...

Great news Jase, did it come in the regular post, or with a courier, or recorded delivery?

It seems you have been granted ILR. All your details shall be saved in BRP.

Hi - Yes the same thing happened to me, but not because it was my fault. The form was ambiguous and I wasn't sure if one of the questions was relevant. They sent me the whole application back after about 3 weeks - apparently I missed a single tick box. Anyway that was about 16 weeks ago. I thought that maybe it was a good sign because it meant there was some activity in the process. But still waiting ....

Hi everyone
I've been following this topic a few weeks now because it's one of the only places where I can find reassurance that my application is not the only one taking forever and that there are loads of other frustrated people suffering the same situation. I send my sympathy to you all.
Here's my details
Applied ILR set(O) 02.03.12
Money taken 06.03.12
Acknowledgement letter received 08.03.12
Biometrics letter received 27.06.12
Biometrics done 28.06.12
so that's about 20 weeks so far

I believe biometrics have delayed the processing even further. No one in set O in the forum who are supposed to do biometrics have recieved their BRP or passport. Other factors are olympics, strikes etc. I am really getting frustrated.

My current Tier 1 expires in August 2nd week. what options do I have other than appealing, if the application is rejected in worst case scenario .

Is it possible to apply for extension on Tier 1 after rejection or reapply for ILR if the current resident permit has expired. Any idea on the rejection rate?

I really don't know why it is taking so long to just acknowledge the application!!!!

BRP received today

Post by SingaporeGirl » Tue Jul 24, 2012 8:00 am

Hi everyone

Finally received my BRP card today at 8:30am by courier.

Originally applied SET(M): 14 February
All documents returned and money refunded: 15 March

It was claimed I had used the "wrong form" without the biometrics info.

Re-applied SET(M): 19 March
Biometrics letter received: 5 May dated 1 May
Biometrics done: 8 May
Biometrics card received: 24 July
Passport: on the way

I wrote a letter to complain that my original application had been mis-handled and inappropriately returned. The form I used when I applied in February was the right one since the BRP card had not come into effect then. I received an apology from UKBA admitting "the administrative error" and that they will expedite the application.

If you are also in a similar situation and still waiting for your documents, I encourage you to write and complain. But bear in mind that my complaint letter was dated 4 June, and it's only now that I got any response from UKBA.

My passport hasn't arrived yet, but the BRP card is proof that the application is successful. After the very long wait (since February when they messed things up), it felt very surreal to receive the BRP card.

During this time we had missed out on celebrating our son's second birthday with family back home, lost money on air tickets, lost our annual leave, so after 18 weeks, I am really relieved all this is coming to an end.

Passport received - how long for the BRP??

Post by waiting since march... » Tue Jul 24, 2012 9:11 am

Hi All,

I received my passport back this morning - here is my timescale...

Applied through Settlement Checking Service - 27 March
Acknowledgment - dated 29 March
Biometrics provided - 19 May
Passport Received - 24 July - letter dated 19 July.

Still to receive the BRP - strange that some get this first and others have to wait - any others facing this? How long is the wait normally?

Good luck All!

@Singaporegirl, m so happy for you. And good luck with ur complaint as you have the legal in doing that so. I think when UKBA changed the ruling about BRP, some of the staff didnt ask or know the effectivity of it so when they received some applications in February they automatically thought those are covered with the new ruling.
Anyway, for us who who are still waiting,,gook luck & God bless us all.

I cannot for the life of me actually believe that it takes the UKBA 6 months to make a decision, this process has really left a sour taste in my mouth. I just phoned the UKBA to find out that if my passport has not being returned to me after six months and I request it back will they withdraw my application?

The operator confirmed that they would withdraw it and I will not receive my ILR, I then asked what if my application takes two years to consider, his reply was that I shouldn’t book any holidays. So basically I cannot leave until the UKBA returns my documents? His reply was, well you can leave but you won’t have an ILR.

I think that we should all send e-mails to watchdog and explain our situations so maybe someone (or some newspaper will listen) The UKBA needs to be better funded and they need to be held accountable for the effect this process has on people’s lives, jobs, houses, relationships and most of all stress levels.

It says six months and I was prepared for that but telling me that I cannot request my passport even if the processing took two years is pushing the limits a little.

P.s.

Some good statistics coming soon for SET (O) applicants from February-March:

GmanILR2012: how long have you been waiting?

I have sent emails to Watchdog and Panorama about my case. I think more people should do it to bring this issue to light.
