Referee and British Citizenship

I was wondering, does Home Office normally contact the referees in the Citizenship application ( when the application is AN and is done from UK)

I ask this because they have not contacted either of the referee for my wife even after 3 months of application

I applied in April and my referees have not been contacted yet either. I was worried about this as well. If the referees are not contacted normally it reassures me a little.

I acted as a referee a couple of years ago, and I wasn't contacted.
